I may not be in London, but this is too good not to get on the list and feel a frisson of anticipation.

Great ride planning, Pete--an area that not many rides go out to from London.

[edquipmentscoble]I'd like to do this fixed, but might have to get a strap-on bottle cage as my fixed bike (being a thoroughbred urban road racing track bike) doesn't have a bottle cage, or have to carry water on my back.[/edquipmentscoble]

  • hey peeps

sadly not around for this one as as im at work but i rode the route on monday and it was great, lovely lanes and eerie emptiness at the end. enjoy everyone i sure did.

  • A quick question - have you recced this route? I'm fairly sure the section at 29 miles (between the bottom of Stock Lane and Stock village)is more farm track/footpath than public highway. I think you are better staying on Ingatestone Road then taking a left at Honeypot Lane to take the short but moderately testing climb up to Stock.

  • Yep - those are my photos/bike at the top! I do like to include the odd off road bit to add a little interest, it was going to be a surprise... But that particular lane ('Back Lane') has been closed off with a barrier, so I went the way you describe (and we will for the ride itself).

  • I'd love to do it, but I'm coming back three days after that.

  • My bank holiday weekend is looking a bit empty and am miffed at missing the Herne Bay Ride so will make up for it with this one I reckon, come hell or proverbial highwater.
