went on a juvenile rude-bits themed ride yesterday to beaver zoo and titsey place.
new x > catford > bromley > keston > beaver zoo > titsey place > warlingham > croydon > streatham > brixton > new x. 40 miles at a guess, what with getting massively lost at almost every turn!

I'm planning on cycling to Littlehampton (from London) this weekend. Can anyone point me in the right direction (route wise!)

Took my housemate out (new cyclist) from Camberwell to Thorton Heath via Dulwich Village and Selhurst Park - nice short ride if you're in South London and want to get some hills and a great view.

Incidentally, I should be starting work in Piccadilly next month and am looking for my new cycle route from Camberwell Green. My hunch would be to take Lambeth Bridge - does that sound like the best option to those familiar with that route?

I just got to London yesterday, and would be really down to go for a few rides and hopefully catch a few good long group rides. Anyone be interested in leading me around?

Does anyone have a good route from London to Cambridge? I've had a little search but haven't been too impressed by what I've found so far - a lot of routes seem to be on main roads for almost half the ride. I don't really care if it's not really direct, and as rural as possible would be great. I will repay you in route mapping favours.

Due to impatience I've made my own...it's about 70 miles from central London and not direct at all, but it does have some rural stretches which I know to be very pleasant. Steal it if you like, I'm sure you'll thank me later.

did you bother to check the rides forum and searching thread titles for cambridge, gave me a few ideas.

Thanks, but I did bother to check and search, and as I said above I was looking for something a little less B-road-ish. I'll be riding back the next day so will probably take one of the more direct routes - i.e. the 'classic' forum route you have linked to. Not that the forum route is crap, either, it's just I've done it a couple of times before and wanted something a little different. I guess when I said 'impatience' it implied I was expecting other people to do all the legwork...I wasn't. oops.

OK i see, think I just misunderstood what you meant and wanted. I think I'm not bothered by B-roads as they're so much better than anything in london.
For an alternative route how about this for some of the route http://www.greatnorthway.org.uk/

looks nice spybot, may try that soon, want to get another london-cambridge in before winter. bear in mind that the long-awaited guided busway is now complete and open, so between the DNA path and the hospital may look a little different. and the hospital's grown again.
I recommend a variation from the hospital into town, as Hills Rd is a bit rubbish once you get over the railway bridge. see the last couple of miles of this: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/314112
- goes through some little meadows instead. -

ooh, thanks, that's great. Although my brain may well have exploded due to route instruction overload by that point.

Anyone got any advice for a daily commute from Tulse Hill to Hounslow or any shortcuts that keep me off the south Circular for as long as possible (even though I reckon that it's probably the fastest route to take)
-
• #166
you might want to try http://www.cyclestreets.net/journey/
it's quite good for planning routes on different levels and using shortcuts. -

Does anyone know any 2-3 hour fixed friendly rides up near Bakewell in Derbyshire? Heading up at the weekend and keen to get a ride in

Anyone got a good flat route to the New Forest or Bournemouth? Fancy giving it a go early in the morning one day next week :)

Here's a link to a ride I did at the end of last year. It goes out of North London and picks up one of the national cycling network routes up to Hatfield and back the same way (although you can follow the cycling network route all the way up to Stevenage if you're feeling energetic).
*There is a small bit of the route just before crossing the M25 which was quite rough and muddy when I did it, but it's short enough to carry your bike if you don't want to ruin your nice shiny bike.
Does anyone have a route they'd recommend to Stevenage/know the NCN route this guy is talking about and how convoluted it is?

That is really helpful, thanks mate.

Does anyone have a nice route to take me from London to (or near) Basingstoke?
I was thinking maybe somebody might have one to Reading or Winchester and I could work something out from that.

what ever you do don't follow ncr 4 or which ever it is, it's horrendous.
