But if it's a group ride there isn't much competitiveness going on, I think if people were in teams of 3/4 with a mixture of knowledge (< tactful way of saying old fogeys and young uns) between them it would still be social and fun and you'd learn a lot from each other while you did it.
Maybe it could be spread over many hours so speed/getting lost isn't such an issue.
All ending with a deadline to meet at one final tag which will of course be an establishment that serves alcohol and we can all get drunk :)
