I'm definitely lucky I don't live in London, in this regard anyway. I leave my bike locked up while I get a list to Bristol. That's 5 days a week, every other week (when I drive in) for 10 hours a day. I used the Fagh on it and it in a very visible place with loads of footfall and so far (touch wood) no issues. Both bikes would probably qualify as beaters though.
The weight is an issue: horrible having it in the backpack, but when the bags full or I don't have a long way to go I just sling over the stem and bars
