  • Anyone had any experiences getting a Custom Ti frame made? II am looking to get a SS CX frame made I am currently looking at the following:

    Burl's (UK) @ approx £1000
    Triton (Russia) @ Approx £650
XCAD (China) at @ $700 USD

Anyone had any experience or other recommendations?

  • Jokes.

Before I could even post a witty-utfs-reply, it's been merged.

  • I had a merlin for a year and it was brilliant,I would beware buying something custom on price Titanium is very difficult to weld and cant be cold set.Read the strong website for a better understanding, he builds a perfect frame

  • XCAD (China) at @ $700 USD

And didn't the pound just jump in value?

  • I found this Ti frame on ebay:

I've never heard of Spin. It looks like you can buy it direct on their site cheaper.

The welds look ok. The blurb says:

Custom drawn, cold worked, double butted 3Al/2.5V Ti certified aerospace titanium tube set

I don't know what that actually means, but a DB Ti frame for £800 sounds pretty good.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: From the site it looks like it's the same tubing as a Van Nicholas Yukon. And the large has a claimed weight of 1500g... 10yrs warranty as standard... sounding better all the time.

    Fixed/SS geo/sizing:

  • spin has been mentioned here previously

trying to mention who by, it was a guy who worked in a bike shop in stratford - memory escapes me and too lazy to utfs but there is enough info if you go searching

  • Not sure I can be bothered. Do you mind doing it for me?

  • FFS. "Spin" is a rubbish name to use as a key word.

Is is possible to make searches case sensitive?

The closest I got on the general internet was retrobike. Someone said it just looked like a cheap Chinese frame which you could source cheaper yourself. Except these have a warranty and you don't have to do all the shit that goes with importing those things.

  • search for stratford on avon

the guy who worked in the bike shop posted there posted something about the spin bikes - made by someone affiliated to the shop...

  • Found!

Discussion in page 659 of Porn here.

Well done with the stratford on avon recollection. But still nothing that conclusive, just a debate over whether it's a re-branded XACD. My *guess *is it's probably made overseas, but the welds look better plus the warranty and less hassle, give more confidence.

  • Is it just me, or does everyone else get this random website about cleaning products from the links in that post?

  • yes..no workie

  • He's also begun producing Ti seatposts, stems and bars

    this made me laugh

  • I have a cracked Ti Colnago and a snaped Ti USE Alien seatpost.
The Colnago lasted over 2 years, the Seatpost a few month.
    I am around 73Kg.
I still have a 1995 Litespeed MTB that is great.

It's not the cyclops clamp is it? Where did it crack?

  • Passoni sex-sin-yess = Dream bike

    They have pedigree too:

at the point where it entered the frame

  • Great rep company in Canada: http://timetogetnaked.com/ some seriously nice workmanship!

  • SPIN (mentioned above) have 2 track/fixed models:
    Solo
    Ultimo

Moda Senza have their own Track bike and frame only options.

    And too so does SpicerCycles.

Not sure if this coulod be merged with Nimhbus' Titanium Track Frames thread. It would make for a better resource IMO.

  • Baums are niiiiiiiiiiice. When I'm old, fat and rich that's what I'll be picking up. A high end product from Geelong? double awesome.

  • Has Strong been mentioned?

    Very nice looking bikes.

  • Hello
I had a lovely Van Nicholas Euros Ti frame, and some kind fool in a clio decided to try and run me over at 60mph and put me in hospital fro a night (lucky escape to say the least).
The rear wheel had to be taken behind the shed and shot and the derailleur was knocked clean off leaving the bolt still in the frame. I have removed the bolt and noticed that the derailleur hanger is bent by about 1cm. My question is what is the best way to bend it back?
