I saw 'Marwencol' on Sunday night, and really enjoyed it. Quite unusual subject matter, handled sensitively and whilst it's something of a cliche to say it, it was definitely very 'thought-provoking'.
Also essential viewing if, like me you used to love Action Man / action figure toys! ;-)
Next on my list: Restrepo
Marwencol, I just got that too :)
Not watched it yet

Swoooon. I had the biggest crush on him as a kid. Weird I know.
Saw the latest Harry Potter last night. I already knew the crappy ending as I'd read the books but it was flimsily done at best. The action scenes were really bad too and there was one bit in the hall where people 'rush' to defend Harry that was so badly acted with such little effort that my friend and I actually laughed out loud at the same time. Still enjoyed it as a light hearted bit of fun though and Maggie Smith was brilliant.
Looking forward to (with some trepidation) Film Socialisme. A Separation and Poetry also look interesting. Has anyone seen Life in a Day yet?

Agree with you on HP but it had potential to be so much better (the whole Neville bit was meant to be really intense, and was just 'meh', and disappointed that they didn't focus more on Harry being the master of death, feel that would have been interesting).

bottom end of my list are:
Independence Day

watched Tim Roths "War Zone"
strewth, pretty good and also very shockingI didn't like much, I found it more brave rather than good, but yes... disturbing. To be honest I think Tim Roths(whom I like as an actor) just felt the urge of doing something "more" after Nil by Mouth by Gary Oldman... they get pretty jealous on this kind of things.
@Hauska Top stuff there... I usually watch also light movies in between, so that I don't risk to get confused, anyway Jules Et Jim is a light one.
@BMMF You made me curious.

Yes definitely lots of things they could have gone into more detail with. It just felt lazy really and no different to the previous one!

5 is quite a bad film that I would not watch again but still had some effort put into it
or some quality moments.
I rate movies 1 or 2 if they become a painful experience, are plain stupid or completely
fail in other ways as a successful film.bottom end of my list are:

Freak Orlando
The Doors
The Gore Gore Girls
Heavy Metal 2000
Casshern

anyone over the age of 12 who reads harry potter/willingly watches the films should be ashamed of themselves.
Woah, woah, woah. Gary Oldman is in some of the films which is reason enough to watch them .

I just looked up waterboarding. Wish I didn't :(
No, they're not the most well-written books but I found them interesting and good for light reading inbetween more 'intellectual' reads. I watched the films mainly out of morbid curiosity as you do when any book you've read gets made into a film.

You haven't heard of waterboarding?

i need some help. It's a film about the 2nd world war. The Germans are invading Russia and are rolling through Belarus wiping out everything in their path. I think it is a russian/belarussian movie. It is pretty full on from start to finish and centres on a boy aged approx 11. Any ideas what it is called please?
