See your thinking on the XTs- although you are going to have to be doing some remote touring to worry about failure rates ;) - I suppose they consider force of impact on design- which is similar if your jumping off something, or going over bumps with heavy loads. Its the drag that must be the biggest issue- I wonder if just changing the bearings could work...
Nomads are great, but heavy. Think I might go for a decent 90's Explosif, decent front suspension forks (servicable, like Pace) and then run a Bob Yakk off the back... I might well be trying to do it with a greyhound in the back... thats the plan anyway!
