Lots of them only have flats because of the brake system used and gear shifter etc.
Can't see much difference between those bars above with extensions and my Midgets with hoods. At least I've got drop for ascends - really helpful with a heavy load and long chainstays, in my opinion.
I will probably swap my bars when I get hydraulic brakes. Still, probably go for butterfly type ones to shorten the reach a bit (long top tube).
