  • What's the fit? Do they have a tailored look or I'm going to look in it like a car park attendant?

Tailored. Got a bunch of +ve remarks when I first wore it to the client office.

  • depends on the temperature - 7.5 mile journey with toilet changing facilities at the other end.

    18C+
Paramo 3/4 Parameta 'A' shorts. excellently breathable.
    ShuttVR full sleeve jersey.

    12-17C
    Linen trousers,
http://www.freshmaxshirts.com/ shirt. or the jersey at the upper end of this.

    5-12C
    Rohan Fusion trousers
    http://www.freshmaxshirts.com/ shirt.

    add on top of that
ShuttVR Winter jacket down to -5C ish.

pretty much unless it's warm, I fold up the B, enter reception and go right to the office. B under desk = sorted.

http://www.freshmaxshirts.com/ - rather good shirts, just finished a 6 month test of one. I like.

Must be a tough decision if, when you check your thermometer of a morning, it reads exactly 12C

  • or your thermometer is broken ?

  • Start thinking about windchill, rain and morning/afternoon temperature differential and you have a lovely flow chart waiting to be mapped.

    • shorts
    • t-shirt

    Lycra>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • shorts
    tshirt

light jacket in bag in case of rain

  • Lidl shorts, short sleeved top, SPDs and socks. If I'm going to get sweaty and possibly ruin clothes, I'll do it in cheap ones that look shit, rather than expensive ones that still make me look fat.

  • Today was the first day i wore cycling shorts and a t-shirt and got changed at work. Previously i'd just been wearing my work outfit which is fine as the commute is fairly short.
However, wearing shorts has the benefits of not causing embarrassing pant showing incidents that skirts and dresses do, and i got a bit fed up of pervy men looking and commenting on me riding. I might even wear the shorts underneath the skirts and dresses from now on.

I think you've made the wrong decision here.

  • Cycling shorts under skirts = riding win

nope, that's linen coz afternoon will be warmer :)

still, rough guidelines for 'ride to work in the stuff worn at work' was the idea here.

    cept when it's warm..

At least I'm in no danger of being confused with a hipster...

  • At the risk of being redirected to another board formerly known as C+, I ride wearing bibshorts (mostly dhb or Lusso) and a jersey. My commute's 19km each way, and I'm too sweaty to even think about doing anything other than changing when i get to work. In winter, I'll add Altura longs, and a ls jersey over the ss one. A jacket in extreme weather, along with buff and fleece beanie (h*lm*t when it's icy - one of the few occasions it could be useful).

  • Morphsuits

  • made of plastercine ?

  • Levis are doing new commuter jeans - higher waist at the back so no more crack on display

http://store.levi.com/emails/ oh - just seen they are skinny jeans - great for hipsters - crap for me with tree trunk like legs

    made of plastercine ?

  • My office is very casual so I can get away with wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt. When I ride in I wear Endura Humvees and an icebreaker merino T-shirt. I shower at work then take the liner out of the humvees and wear normal underwear in them and usually change into a fresh T-shirt. My commute is 10.5 miles fixed.

  • I wear my jeans and t shirt, which I hope to be in all day. Set off at a steady pace on my beater trying not to get sweaty. Get caught in one of many little cycling moments. Give it the beans. Gain momentum and arrive at work pissing with sweat. Feel a bit manky but glad all morning.

    yup

  • Same as Wrongcog and Dracula.

If I didn't have to carry lunch I wouldn't need a flipping bag.

    Bag = Sweaty back patch.

  • Jeans and t-shirt, cycling gloves and a cycling cap if I don't want my hair to get all messed up.

If it's snowing I'll add a hoodie and a woollen hat, but other than that it's basically the same all year.

  • Winter you say?!?!

  • Hair you say?

  • Thread revival time:
I'm doing a mini-project for uni and want to look at how cyclist 'inhabit' their space on the road. Safety is relevant but not the main focus as I want to know how what you wear reflects how you approach cycling on the road. Hope this is sufficiently clear, some guiding questions below. If anyone wants to post a selfie of 'what I wore today' that would be great too!

What is your main commuting outfit (eg. oldest clothes available, rolled up jeans, suit, lycra/ club kit)
What are the measures you have take for safety/ comfort (eg. helmet, lights, reflectives, mudguards, toe warmers)
How do you amuse/ occupy yourself on your commute (music, imaginary conversations, provoking other road users etc)

    Many thanks in advance !!

  • "what you wear reflects"
