  • 48.55 for 10K this afternoon.

that's close to my best time from last year. did the mo-running 10k in greenwich park in 48:32 but the hills were a bit of a bastard on that route.

On friday I'd been worried about a slight pull in my groin that happened whilst cycling home on thursday so I opted to leave the bike at home. on the train back after work I felt like I had ants in my pants and was massively restless so when I got in for the first time in a good few months I chucked on my running kit and went out for a run.

Now I knew I was going to have to ease myself back into it so the plan was to run a rough approximation of my old 5k loop through greenwich park so I just did that trying not to go too fast that i'd struggle or get a stitch or whatever.

fuck me, all of the good things about running from last year flooded back and I drifted round the park like I was bouncing on an air cushion. I wasn't timing myself but I would say it was still sub 30min. but it's definitely rekindled my running spark. the goal now is to get back up to decent 10k running fitness and drop some of the weight I've gained back since I stopped so I can run to work once or twice a week. this would also probably push me over the edge of deciding to get a brompton on C2W when I'm elligible in Oct so I can alternate between cycling in and running home and running in and cycling home without leaving my bike looked up in the dodgy bike shed at work.
