  • Having been treated to John H's dad dancing for past few weeks, maybe a week off the musak would be a blessing ;)

  • hey...

  • Nobody puts John H in the corner.

  • More importantly why is john's dad at polo, dancing?

  • .

  • Is it on tomorrow? Can I come and watch and maybe give it a go?? Been tempted to try for ages but knee was fucked up early this year, it still is... Which brings to a question, could anyoone lend me a knee protector or whatever they are called if I wanna try to play tomorrow? And could someone lend me a mallet? All I have is a bike and half a brain. What beer do people drink? What else should I bring? Oh and I might come with a +1 if that's ok.

  • Yes to everything!
Check the OP about the safety of your bike. We need to make sure things aren't sticking out and dangerous.
I think I have a spare knee pad and will bring a mallet.
We only drink cheap European larger. Fact.
    Peckham carpark level 5, 7pm.

  • Cheers mate! I got some rise bars from Xander a while ago, so I think my bike is good to go, but will read the OP again. Cheap beer is right up my street... My bike is an ugly as fuck London Langster (what was I thinking when I bought it?) so I might just stick out like a sore thumb tomorrow...

  • My +1's SS bike has gone AWOL... I don't suppose any old bike is a good idea? Can she borrow the loaner bike? She is 6fts. I would have shared mine with her but I got clipless... and is clipless a good idea by the way?

    Sorry for so many questions...

  • There will be plenty of bikes, don't worry.
I'm not sure about starting out clipless but ending up clipless is a great idea, so if you don't mind falling off then perhaps starting out clipless is a good idea.
If it's what you've got then all good.
Checking the OP for polo bike set up as well as safety is a good idea. You'll need the brake on the other side from your mallet hand, and low gearing would be a good idea too if you can.
Just come, watch, play learn, all will become apparent.

  • Not that we struggle for numbers these days, but I like a list...

    Yep, in my bag.

I might be a touch late, need to drop off a bike bag in Lewisham first, then spin down to Peckham

I have been well educated by a friend who plays polo every week, he plays in NE I think... with him telling me how he wants to improve his polo bike regularly, I have a pretty good idea, but just can't really afford to change anything on it until later on in the summer. But I am looking at some dual brake leaver, think it's a good idea for everyday ride too.

    Anyway, see you this evening.

  • Hey,
Piotr and I are coming after 8 and we're willing to stay late (someone asked about playing after 9.30)

  • Cool Stan. Did you get your poles?

Just so you know, there is non beginners up north tonight
