Has anyone tried using a juniour cricket cage? i have been offered one for cheap, and whilst i assume the helmets are really small, does that me the cage bits are too? or can they be stretched?

I have attached a youth cage to a small Giro (this exact same one as donated by Gabes after the UK's in Manchester). http://www.lfgss.com/thread47852.html
Took a bit of strectching and bending to get it attached but works ok. Might be a bit too much to bend and stretch on anything bigger than a small helmet though.

Fixcraft visor for Bern Watts arrived today. Not too bad to fit once you get your head around the instructions. Visibility is pretty good, though I haven't tried knocking a ball around yet due to these thunder storms! Helmet feels substantially heavier, but what did I expect?!

I'm going to look for these combo masks here in Eindhoven, they look the best for protection and to not lose vision

it depended on the weather, but yeh i wouldn't recommend them, also i think most ice hockey players they don't really use them either

for those playing clippless what are good spd shoes with high ankle protection?
-
• #816
I just bought a pair of Shimano AM31s, £80rrp, high ankle (about as high as you're going to get anyway) and a fairly tough toe-box for when your foot gets caught in some asshole's spokes. No fragile ratchet either.

I cut the ankle padding from a pair of football shin pads. They're elasticated and have a stirrup so stay in place and proper padding over the ankle bone. Perfect.
Am about to go clippless, I need all the help I can get hauling my hub gear around the court. Apologies in advance for falling on you.

Any tips for removing bars on a Bauer face cage I instantly blunted a mini hacksaw and barely made a groove. I heard an angle grinder will get through eventually but would have to be a small blade.
I'm just removing the top 2 horizontal bars

Get a better hacksaw.
And a file
-
• #823
Wire cutter worked for mine, and then used a file on the edges. That said, not too sure of the material the Bauer cage is made from. Stainless steel?
-
• #824
I used an angle grinder on my bauer cage. It's tough steel. Best to grip it in a vice as well.

Anyone else interested?

I'm thinking you'll be able to adapt these for non peaked helmets.
