Any other option of a cheaper non-mashined wheelset which could take tyres between 38-48mm?
If you're going that big, go for really big rims. You can drop a tyre size and get the same flotation, so the weight of big rims is less of a penalty. I've got 700x35 tyres on 38mm wide Kris Holm rims, and they are a million times better than 700x37 tyres on a 23mm wide rim. The Kris Holm 29er rims have machined sidewalls, so if you're really obsessed with that there's a 42mm wide Nimbus http://www.unicycle.uk.com/unicycle-spares-1/rims/rim29nimbusdominator2.html and it's also £4 each cheaper than the Kris Holm http://www.unicycle.uk.com/unicycle-spares-1/rims/29-kris-holm-xc-rim.html
