An act of gay abandon, and surely folly. Given their dubious history, alu heads et all.
I covet one of these> Jadore!Panache aplenty.

Dolly Sprint? My old man used to have one of those. They do look lovely, but practicality and reliability goes out the window when it comes to coveted cars, no?

I think I may have to get an MGB GT.

• #6712
seeing the brockley express on the weekend gave you the horn, eh?
-
• #6713
Yep, although I think I'd have struggled to get Fenella, Jenne, Aram, myself, all our luggage, Jims roadbike and that bag of sand I've been carrying around in an MGB.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
I spent yesterday doing second gear chirpies and sliding around b roads with the top down (until I got absolutely pissed on, just outside blandford). Ankle deep.

Heh, sounds good- maybe apart from the rain.
Spoke to the car whisperer earlier today.
3" turbo back, 100 cel race cat and 2 small straight through mufflers, Garrett core'd intercooler, catch can, 18T turbo, high lift intake cam and he can now adjust the fuelling and the timing himself- pulls on the M1 with him on his laptop plugged into the OBDII port I guess.

Sopa. Until your 25 or a millionaire your gonna have to go with something pretty boring really. The pan of youth.
That said I haven't found insurance to be any cheaper in my late twenties, I'm just wealthier.
Polo estate can't be expensive to insure.
I've got one of these, but the 1.6 100hp pre-facelift model. Soft, rolly and yards of understeer. It has a really slack ratio rack for a modern'ish car, I guess they just rumaged something random out of the parts bin for it. Plenty of 'tuning' parts can be had from any number of VAG cars, though Ibiza Cupra's are the main source (those wheels, air damn etc) for bits (springs & roll bars you will NEED, makes a vast improvement). golf mk3's are also a good source for parts, probably where I will take a rack from if I could be bothered.
Thirsty though in the cold, anything less than 18C = max 36mpg. Over 20C you can start to reap 40. Over 25C you can reap 45mpg quite easily. Don't ask me why, guess its just an ancient engine/ecu combo, and more suited to Spain where it was built.Almost 'cool' styling though, there aren't many around and it does get some attention, often either people spewing their guts or dropping their pants in awe, like marmite.
Boot is a fair size (and more importantly square), I get two large dogs in there without problem for hours on end. Cos of its square shape you can get fresh air back to them pretty effectively too.
Insurance wise, pricey. Mine is technically an old group 6-8 but actually costs more than the other car I was going to buy, a 1984 Saab 900T16 or 1992 Saab 900T16Ruby. -

got rest of exhaust bits yesterday, after minor scare, all sorted. but my uncle with hoist and mig is busy for a few weeks, so need to sort something out. also need to grab some manifold gaskets and some new header bolts
whole lot

• #6721
Pah needs to have exhaust emerging on both sides of the rear of the car, it should also end in a pair of cherry bombs.

That's a lot of hoof! Sweet.
-
• #6723
Cheers- should be fun.
However- also suggests that I should pull the trigger on the AWD conversion pronto.
Otherwise I'm asking the front wheels to deal with 175 horses each- not sure the viscous LSD will be happy with that.

Good lord - that is going to be a serious handful as FWD. Take bets on how long before you melt the diff? ;)
