  • Attention, soon to be temporarily gazumped London-based track riders!

Keep the 31st of July free. An extended version of the race training session will be migrating to Bournemouth, for bunch training exercises, (informal/training) bunch racing, and maybe even setting a few benchmark times!

Full details coming within a week.

  • Good question. One I shall have to verify.
if you read the accreditation details on the site, shows that 2 sessions of 2 hours would get you through it, at minimal cost. Anyone who is actually going to come and ride leagues and other events here wouldnt have a problem with that time investment.
I take the point about visiting groups, although as Oz's Post shows, there seems to be a disparity on this probably due to some organisations standpoint that I cant possibly comment on a public website.

sure that those of you involved in track cycling appreciate that the work that is done running/setting this up done is from a grass roots level.
there arent that many B.C officials about either,
    even less without Rob.

Fair enough, I'm just itching to get on there and put some efforts in with as soon as possible if I'm completely honest. It would be nice if accreditation sessions could be run at the weekends because as it's stands it just seems to be keeping it a bit "local", IYKWIM.

All your efforts are very much appreciated, it's great to see another new track being born, it looks absolutely fantastic.

Keep the 31st of July free...

the day after I cycle to bournemouth. destiny, methinks.

  • Are there no facilities at all? Just a velodrome in a park?

  • "fast track" accreditation is over three sessions!?

more like moderately slow track by the sounds of it.
Newport accreditation is pretty rigorous, why don't you just allow it + one of your sessions. That's enough to see if someone's hot or not.

  • oh cool I get to pay £10 to be told how to ride a track....

why does it need 4 x 1hr sessions?

To clarify- Im not running it- B.C.C are, all serious enquiries to the info address which is what J.C has done I am sure

  • I thankfully live round the corner from it, and go down regularly already haha!

If there is nothing booked it's public use and you can go round it however much you like!

Here are some pictures I took on the opening day:

It's great to have such a good resource so close to me.. not so fun for you londoners!

  • Sorry Mf, just thinking aloud. I'll be getting in touch at some point anyway, as I'm sure a lot of interested parties will be!

  • oh cool I get to pay £10 to be told how to ride a track....

Expect it'll be £30 for you.

£10 to be told to put a helmet on
£10 to be told to stop skidding
    £10 for the rest

  • Refer to my post... its a public resource when not booked so you just have to watch out for the kids and you can walk on!

you mean you just have to kick the kids on bmxs and skateboards off,

  • Well we turn up there in helmets and sexy lycra and they seem to let us pass!

But yes, kids on BMX's and skateboards is the current issue

  • For the record, over time I intend on doing the accreditation!

  • so anyone can just use it for whatever activities they want when it's not booked for a session? Is it just open, or is it fenced off and locked up when not in use??

How does that work with insurance issues??

this sounds good.... should I book the whole day off??

  • @Spaghoops, the parks dept open it up in the day.
when sessions are booked they take priority, the general public use is settling down as the novelty wears off, and regular casual presence of plenty of fixed, club and general riders.

  • If you get 4 people together and leave Waterloo at 08:54 you can get there and back for £14.50 each, gets in to bournemouth at 11:35.

From the station it's a 1.9 mile brakless fixie skidder race to the track.
