  • What forks are these? Surly i suspect.

This is my Plug... Everything apart from the frame, and headset have been changed:

  • Likely to be (they come in 1 1/8), but if you're looking for upgrade - carbon all the way.

  • The stock gearing on the langster is fine (which is a high 60), 80gi is what people use on the track.

I use(d) 90 on the track, 80 on the road. My knees don't thank me for it. Say what you like but my 36in legs cant spin for sh*t. Gimme a high gear and a nice long TT!

  • 2 brakes + fixed wheel is very very underrated.

you ride fixed with a rear brake?

  • I've been toying with the idea of adding a rear brake for extra braking power, but I was under the impression that it was unnecessary.

My langster did have one originally, but I took it off and subsequently lost it...

Zakkz, fit a rear if you like but IMO it's overkill (plus would confuse my legs)

  • you ride fixed with a rear brake?

    Yep, why not? hardly overkill.

  • Yep, why not? hardly overkill.

just know my legs would be confused by the extra drag. It's fixed or brake for me, to do both seems just... inhuman.

  • That's usually happen when you hasn't tried a certain method before, much like the confusion of riding a fixed wheel bicycle in the first place.

tip of the cap for not taking obvious flame bait there scoble.

  • hi!
i am 6.1 feet and bought a plug size l as i was recommended the size in the shop as well as from charge. i tried both sizes but what can you tell from riding 10 min???
so i got problems wit the handle bar being too far away causing pain in my wrists. i now changed the stem (used a bmx stem) and moved the saddle further forward. it now fits absolutely perfect.
what a difference. if any of you has the same problems i had try this. it is a huge difference and makes the whole riding experience much more fun. i really liked the look of the original bike but being so more comfortabe is really worth it.

  • Any Small Size Charge Plug owners know what size fork I'd need to buy if I bought the frame alone?

  • Any threadless 1 1/8" steerer forks with a minimum of 210mm.

Make sure the Charge frame you are buying come with the headset and the fork bit that comes with it.

  • Mine's called Bernhard. Well it would be if it had a name.

No way! Mine's called Bernard too. Usually just Bernie, though.

  • And there we all were thinking it would be called 'The Hearse'.

  • Phenomenal dredge.

  • About Charge Plug Sizing: I am 182cm (little less than 6 feet) and inseam 85cm i took the Large and it was a little strange at the biginning, but after a week i would say that it fits to me great.
Sizing it's strange, my advice is to look more an the length of the top tube to make a decision. The seat tube it's larger than in other frame geometries, but i think that the most important thing in this bike is how far you sit from the steam.
Bike is great, brake levers are not very good but the rest is ok for the price. I hope this helps.

  • I put Noahs Arc handlebars on mine & it offers a much more comfortable ride, due to the fact I can change my grip position to suit my needs at any time...

  • Sorry to dig out an old Ish thread, but I am in the market for a charge plug. 2 questions I have:

    1. Do charge plug, charge plug racer, charge whatever... Have the same sizes? Saw an old model of charge plug racer going cheap online and want to get that, then have the bars replaced etc as I ideally want a charge plug set up. Basically, I just want a frame, really.

    2. What is the actual size of the XS? Having difficulty finding a proper size chart. I am 168cm and if the XS is too big then I'd go back to looking at langster.

    Thanks

  • Why don't you test ride them and see if it is indeed the right size?

  • Every time I have a chance to go into either Evans or cycle surgery, they never have the S or XS in store... It was always either I wasn't bothered for ordering the right size in for test or the staff weren't very keen on doing so. Ed, you work in Evans, right? Do they still take £50 deposit for bringing a bike in for a test ride?

  • yep, and I think our Evans have the S in stock.. will double check.

  • Not sure what 168cm is, but i'm 5'5 and an XS fits me okay. If anything it's probably a little too small.

  • Cool, might just pop into yours, which one do you work at?

We are the same height then!

  • Wimbledon, I'll let you know if we do have such sizes in stock, it's a very big shop after all.
