Has anybody had a bike painted and of these RAl colors?
RAL 4005 Blue Lilac
RAL 4011 Pearl Violet
RAL 4012 Pearl BlackberryIf so can you please post a pic or direct me to a pic of one or all of these colors. I'm having a really hard time deciding on a color.

honestly, you can't decide till you're there, i spent ages looking at pics of bikes painted different colours, then changed my mind as soon as i got to the shop and saw them in real life...

Just had my Nigel Dean powder coated at Armourtex. Apparently it's the first bike they've done in metallic green. I dropped it off Wednesday afternoon, picked it up Friday lunchtime. Really impressed.
What did you use for the lugs?....looks lovely!

Cheers Bullwinkle. I used a DecoColor extra fine paint marker to line the lugs. http://www.sirstampalot.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=33066

Thanks for that....did you get the frame lacquered afterwards or did you do the lugs yourself afterwards? Got an old CoventryEagle frame with nice lugs i might do up.

I painted the lugs and put vinyl decals on top of the powdercoat lacquer. So far they are holding up excellently without any clearcoat over the top.

Dawes Fireball resprayed RAL5001.
Not a perfect job, but I'm pleased.

Hello all. I'm thinking of going down to Amourtex to get my frame powdercoated. I would really like to paint my bike something similar to Cadbury purple, only maybe a little more blue-ish. I've spent ages looking through the RAL chart but I'm not really sure what comes closest. Any suggestions?
As it happens, one of the images in the gallery at the Amourtex website shows pretty much what I want. The bottom right picture in the gallery here: http://www.armourtexltd.co.uk/gallery/MainGallery.html
Unfortunately, Armourtex have no record of the exact colour (I called them), though I expect when I go down there they'll try to help me out. Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Go down there and talk to them. Maybe with a print out of the pic, or a version of it saved on your phone.

I just picked up my frame from Armourtex and I'm over the moon. In the end I went with RAL 5022 (Night Blue) with a clear lacquer finish. It's a pretty good match for the photo I linked to above, and it's exactly the colour I wanted - a deep purple-blue. £75 for the paint, finish and to remove a seatpost that was stuck in the frame. The guy who deals with bikes for Armourtex - I think his name is Steve? - was very friendly and very helpful. I will definitely go back.
My bike is with a local shop being rebuilt and a few new components added, I'll try to post pics when I get it back (probably next week).

Beautiful. If you dont mind me asking, how did you go about doing the decals and is it clear coated?

Cheers bud.
Decals are vinyls from cyclomondo on ebay. Just stuck them on top of the gloss coat. They're not clearcoted. Still unsure whether to do it or not.
I'm happy with it as it is so I don't see any reason to take the risk and fuck it up. -

That bike is absolutely stunning. Great choice of colour and attention to detail with the decals.

I had the same experience, there was a Raleigh badge on the front of my frame which I just don't have the tools or confidence to remove and he carefully drilled it out and gave it to me once the frame was finished.
^^^ Fair enough! Guess I was unlucky ;)
