Female cyclists trouble?

This is mainly for us girlies.

Do you get harressed whilst cycling?

Ive had times where ive been out on a ride and ive had men and a woman once say get off the road! Women cant drive let alone ride.

Also ive been minding my own business and had a bloke in a car comming the opposite way slow right down on a busy main road just to gawp at me, he actually managed to block traffic and some other bloke had to skidd to a halt.

It doesn't just happen to girls unfortunately.

I regularly get harassed by women cyclists. They constantly shout abuse and hurl things at me as they overtake and it really brings me down.

Thanks for bringing the problem of women cyclists to the attention of everyone. Something has to be done.

I was climbing Dark Hill in Richmond Park when a car came down the hill with it's rear window open.

A very young girl looked out of the window and shouted in my direction:

"Teletubby"

I felt harrassed.

I didnt know men get it as often as women too. I think when i next go on a ride might have a tiny pot of nitromors(paint stripper) and put it on their car see if they like cyclists then lol maby not!

OP - some people are pricks. i don't think most of these people hate women cyclists more than men. but a lot of these people are also cowards and feel safer having a go at a woman.

It's difficult to say whether I get more hassle as a girl cyclist than a boy cyclist as I've only ever been a girl cyclist.

I've had more sexual harassment on public transport if that's what you're getting at, than as a cyclist fo'shure.

Yep, I agree - I have to say, I've never been groped whilst riding my bike, but on the tube and bus it happened a fair amount.

and far more racial than sexual harassment while on the bike...

Nobody ever shouts anything at me that I'm aware of. I am completely ignored. This is, in itself, a form of harrassment and I shouldn't have to put up with it. It's an outrage. An outrage!
