What is the general consensus about the Cinelli Xperience road bike? Ive read a couple of okay reviews about it but have never actually seen or met anyone who rides one.
Any feedback much appreciated

Would like something like armadillos, for a nelson pista. 23c clearance, the dillos I have are those 25/23 numbers. Is there something similar?

Conti GP4000s and the Lord on your side?

Maxxis Re-Fuse?

I've been impressed with teh Gatorskins- they have performed pretty much identically to the Maxxis Refuse, bar the pleasant "zippp!" noise when skidding on the Maxxis.
However- and this is important- the Gators don't disintegrate in seconds once you have gone through to canvas as the Maxxis do.

I cut my rear Gatroskin to shreds after few days. Weird tyre for a fixeh. Sumo swears by the hardshell version.

whats the deal with pots of 'living' herbs from supermarkets? I am a gardener and even I can't keep them alive
they might as well stuff picked ones into a pot of soil, no-one would be able to tell the difference
-
• #14212
^ That's weird, they are about the only plants that I can keep alive.

Redoing my cables, would it be silly to swap the gear cables over at the headtube so that the cables cross under the downtube in order to make the arc of the cable from shifter to cable stop smoother?
-
• #14214
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, but then I know nothing about gears.
-
• #14215
You mean swap front and rear derailleur controls?
-
• #14216
yes, thats pretty normal to do, cross 'em up
-
• #14217
So that right hand shifter goes into the non-drive (left) side cable stop on the headtube, then goes into the correc (drive side) cable guide under the bottom bracket, and on to the mech

Tart.
-
• #14219
Why tart? It looks (in my head) like it would make for smoother curves, so less friction etc
-
• #14220
Smoother curves?
Where are you going to cross them? Will the friction there not negate any gains?
-
• #14221
Hmm, good point.
I recabled Fenella's bike a couple of days ago and it works much better with a bit of attention paid to making everything as large a radius as possible.
The cables should pass each other under the down tube- I don't think they'll rub?
-
• #14222
larger, smoother, curves have more mass.
-
• #14223
Well, my conclusion is that it would have been fine if I hadn't cut the front mech cable 1cm too short.
Fucksticks.
-
• #14224
1cm must have saved some mass though.

Hopefully the new wheels should cut 300g off the bike- specifically rotating weight, so not as worried about one centimetre as you are Damo.
Should get the bike down to 6.9kg, as long as it's not been having midnight snacks again.
yup pelizolli, I was going to buy one, didn't have quite enough money in the end. Still plan to buy one though. He used to build for Ciocc.
