  • Spring Break win. 3 - 2. Really tight game.

  • Came down for a bit of a watch yesterday, excellent playing. Big thanks to the organisers for putting on the have a go sessions. I had a lot of fun hooning about like an idiot while being schooled by someone a third my age. I might just be a naturally shit player but I think I'll give this a bit more of a go.

  • Sorry we missed the elim stages E-money. I had commitments in London I needed to get back for and honestly never expected to do well. Thanks for the tourney Sheffield and congrat spring break, hope you enjoy the henderson's relish.

  • Sorry E-money. If I had know it was only 4 teams I would have stayed. I owe you some fish chips to say sorry.

  • Top weekend Sheffield, Bristol had a really great time. Thanks to Cambridge and MCR for being such a good laugh on Saturday night. SB and NT final was great to watch, a full 29 minuites.

Thanks also for the encouragement on our games, I think we have improved a fair bit this year and it's really encourageing to get the positive feedback too.

  • I left my brand new Bauer 4500 hockey helmet courtside somewhere, did anyone pick it up?

  • Yup. Got it.
Brizzle take the prize for leaving the most stuff courtside over the weekend.
    See you in London!

  • woo bristol-meth! best unofficial team name. had a great week end thanks to everyone involved. well done andre for MVP!

  • Excellent weekend. Thanks all that turned up and played, those that worked tirelessly to help out (especially Hannah) and a Big Up to Landslide who pretty much sorted this thing out.

  • Awesome little tourney! Loved it. Sheffield you did a great job organizing this. It was nice to see all the non-ldn teams up their games against the likes of SB and NT. The National series was a great idea lets hope it keeps going from strength to strength.

Amazing times camping with Bristol and Cambridge, Ninja is an absolute legend! Respect to my netto superstars, it was a great way to welcome Shaun to the team.

Big love from MCR, bring on the UK Champs.

ps: happy birthday Tom (no 2) x

  • Sincere thanks on behalf of Thor for an amazing weekend. We had a great time at the courts on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a ridiculous time with Bristol and Manchester on Saturday night. I've put a few photographs up on Flickr but I need to go to sleep, will maybe be a few more up over the next couple of days.

  • Thank you so much Sheffield for an amazing weekend. Had an amazing time and am now suffering a 'polo come-down'!! There were many highlights of the weekend for me but the main one had to be our game against Spring Break. 3-0 down with 30 secs to go, and we were like "EVERYONE OUT!" Ryan was literally pushing me around in a circle stopping me from going forward (and laughing), knowing we had no answers. Met some really nice people and really look forward to seeing you all at the London Open. I am pissed off that I missed the Saturday night social aspect of the tourney but was too fucked up from only 2hrs sleep in 2 days to participate. Respect to my team mate Andre for his MVP award. That sauce stuff is fuckin mint, but not really suitable for shaking up and spraying over the crowd!!!

  • Brilliant venue, a lovely city, and great company.

So pleased to nab the trophy, thought the final would never end.

I'd definitely come back for next year, thanks for an awesome weekend Sheffield.

  • Jono - I think your victory had a lot to do with your new coach

  • Oof. I may just recover in time for the London Open…
I've got a big old list of thanks to get through, so here goes!
Firstly, a massive thank you to our sponsors!

    Chunk Clothing
Donated shedloads of goodies, and even sent them next-day delivery (they arrived on Friday)! Bike Polo's most faithful supporters?

    Hendersons Relish
Sheffield's legendary spicy sauce, and sponsors of our MVP. Good for vegetarians and vegans! You know how British ex-pats get Marmite sent to Dubai or wherever? It's the same when Yorkshire folk move away! Spread the word!

    The Bath Hotel
SoYo's favourite watering hole! Brian the landlord very kindly sponsored our goals, lets us put our bikes in his yard and always makes sure we're well refreshed after our polo sessions. Pop in for a pint or two next time you're in Sheffield!

    The Harlequin Pub
Drowned the sorrows of DFL Imperial! The brewery tap of Sheffield's Brew Company, and an essential stop for anyone on the Kelham Island ale trail!

Next up, the SoYo Polo crew - Matt BD, Gav, Rich, Andrew and a special mention for Hannah who coached the public sessions (Sheffield polo's next generation?), kept things running smoothly and kept me sane!
Honourable mentions also go to Mrak for his help with scheduling and Jono for acting as head ref.

Big thanks to Sheffield Council for letting us put on the event and providing all the court materials, and to Matt Heason for all the event management shizzle.

Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who came along and played, reffed and supported the event. Everyone I talked to seemed to have really enjoyed the event, and I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome than that. Same time next year?

  • Thank you SoYo Polo for a great tournament, Chris+Hannah especially (special thanks for housing NT).

Congratulations Madam, Bono and Bryan; ridiculously tense final.

    Definitely be back next year.

  • i had such a good weekend, big thanks to so yo, but especially to andrew for being such a good host!

liked the format of this one, everyone knew where they were supposed to be and when :)

nice one andre for MVP, and of course congrats to spring break, it was fun chilling with you guys,

il definately be back for more next year.....

  • right I have 51 weeks to move the wifes birthday or convince cliff-hanger to move it in 2012 by a week so I can play instead of just bothering everyone

  • I'm a big gay hoser on a little red bike!

Don't know who this was meant for, but i ride a cream surly steam roller.

Maybe it was meant for MattBD & if so I entirley agree!

  • thank you chan :) x
thanks sheffield, we all had a great time, and it was great to meet you all.
andre, it was a pleasure to see you in full swing on saturday night. your bouncing ball goal against us (cream) was quite incredible to behold.
all you can eat breakfast was amazing, wish i hadn't had half a pack of pringles beforehand though.
asbo, can we have the trophy back please? :)

  • where form is Andre the MVP? and in what team is he playing?

  • Bristol, Hacked Off

  • Great 1st tourney sheffield.

Nice to have it as part of a bigger event (the kayaking was awesome). it was a good call on the second day to only do the beginners sessions on one court and keep the tourney running.

#constructivecriticism the boards were really crap and the gutter was super sketch!

  • Sons of pesky erections is an awesome name

Gotta thank John H for that little gem :)

  • Many thanks Sheffield for a great time. Really good fun in the Yorkshire sun and a great bunch of chaps. Be back next year with the rest of Acapolo hopefully. A massive thanks to Alex and John....Sons of Pesky Erections were really gelling by the end, shame my wheel was taco'd and I ended up playing on valiantly on a single speed (thanks for the loaner), or I think we could have had Wee Generation!! Thanks also to Ryan for the loan of the bike bag or I don't think I'd have made it back to Brighton :)
