Shit sucks. I only just sold my 54cm Fuji Track frame and forks.

No worries Mark - I had my eye on one of the Easton EC70's anyway ;)
This just gives me a valid excuse to the missus to buy one.

Hahahahh. I bet you crashed on purpose!

Rode up (and down) some big hills in Cornwall. I miss cycling in Norfolk already.

Arrived back in Norwich. 3 days of massive hills, 1 day of sunburn, 3 days of heavy rain. Shattered, onto recovery cider.

good work bud, i feel your pain, me, sparks and another mate from work rode back from wales a few weeks ago, there be proper hills out that way!
-
• #233
I'm not keen on proper hills, Norfolk slopes are just fine to play with. I seem to remember you had some brutal headwinds that weekend.

..got new tyres and bars in the post, cheers Planet X! Cheap and cheerful Schwalbe Blizzard 23cs and NOS (1997) 3TTT Ergo Due TDF bars. Didn't really think about the whole "ergo" bit but can't complain for the price, and they came with little rubber inlays to fill the ergo grooves..

..got the most cross I've ever been with someone on two wheels.
Was waiting to pull out into the road outside my house. 2 cars were driving down the road, and a woman in a van coming up the road had pulled into the side to let them pass. All gravy - I was happily waiting for the van come past me before I pulled out.
Suddenly this arse on two wheels (business dress, helmet, nice looking light tourer with a shiny Brooks & bar end shifters) squeezes through the space between the van coming up the road and the parked cars on the left, with a plummy shout of "STUPID IDIOT!"
Completely uncalled for from where I'm waiting patiently, and ruined any semblance of my good Tuesday morning mood.
Worse news is this business type is not a push-over to drop on the part of the ride to work he shares with me - even taking into account the fact that he takes a short-cut that I forego, preferring to stay on the road. But he put me in no mood to draft, so I didn't let his gears beat my fixed, and was (embarrassingly) pretty out of puff by the time I pulled into work (and he was only a few bike lengths behind me when I signalled to turn into Princes St).
tl;dr: Bah. Living up to the brand of my ride recently.

That's what you get for going to the pub instead of riding on Fridays.
Though I hear Amon Tobin was well worth attending. -

Got run into by a massive woman on one of those purple mobility scooters while shopping in Sainsbury's. She could have broken my ankle. She just stayed on the accelerator and swung into me. When I said "what are you doing?" she just said "you could see I was turning!!!". So woe betide anyone who happens to be in her path.
So many potential rants, which I'm in the process of keeping to myself for fear of being really out of order in some way about a person with 'mobility issues'. But I'm sure you all know what I'm desperate to say?

She was probably just fat and lazy!

Ordered a new frame and some new wheels, just got to hope it's all delivered while the wife is out!

foolishly agreed to help my housemate paint her "new bike" in some absurd stripy pattern. Amazingly heavy full-suspension piece of shit, got to strip it down I guess.

Today (well, technically yesterday) I did my first proper ride fixed.
Did have a few moments when I forgot to keep peddling but the bike reminded me fairly quickly that I was being a fool but all in, I liked it a lot. -

Woke up to my knees in agony. I went out for 70 odd miles yesterday my muscles felt fine but my knees are hating me today :(
-

Went for a spin around Ringland and over Bowthorpe marshes - 4 horses fell in love with me and the bike. They managed to lick the sweat off of one arm, empty the water bottle without taking it off of the bike, reset the trip computer and fix an itch with the bars.

My knees are still hurting. I'm going to have to do something about this before the DD otherwise I'll be 70 miles in and not able to go above 7mph.
That's not a bad idea actually - was just thinking it'd probably be worth taking some kind of insurance anyway.
Not that I want to run into another car anytime soon - they hurt.
