When I first got my Bob Jackson, it was pristine, and I looked after it, meaning I did not ride it enough.
In the end I took the top tube and bite on it as much as possible with my brittle teeth, It was mentally painful, but I rode it a lots more because I no longer worry about keeping it pristine.
I suggest you to do the same.
