  • Just wondered, although most of you live in our great capital (some may not think so great)... any one here live in or near Northampton?

  • Yep I do, there is at least one 'other' on here too. Seen a few single speeds up here recently

  • Give it a few years London will stretch up that far

  • Yes. I live near Northampton but I work in Coventry so spend a lot of time there. There's a few of the Cov people planning to get together this weekend.

  • Me and my Bro are in milton keynes mate....but both very new to all this stuff, so probably not much good to ya!!

  • Me too. Live and work in the Hamptons.
Ride a white Kona SS around and building a Red Bottecchia at the Mo.

Work with Pointer too who also has some nice winter building projects.

What do you ride i'll keep and eye out?

  • Up the cobblers! heh.

Ahh the Roadmender. Saw On-U sound there once yeeeaaars ago.

My shoes are from Northampton, Britain's only handmade leather cycling shoe ... support your local industry! www.Reynoldsshoes.co.uk

  • All good to hear there are locals on ss/fg's.
I'm on a Chrge Plug with riser bars and white grips instead of the standard bull horns.

I've seen one or two about on the odd occasion!

  • might have spotted you riding in Abington then, guess there might be another plug in shoetown?
I ride an old Raleigh Ti Mtrax frame black and plain Ti - but geared as I work out in the sticks..working on an old 653 frame for next year.

  • Anyone up for a ride in MK sometime? (That's my neck of the woods, so ...) I've been dreaming up one that uses the redways only, just for the hell of it. Londoners get the train up, anyone else meet up there, ride all around the city through parks, pagoda, other spots of interest ... (Bletchley Park, say, or Brickhill Wood), finish at a decent pub in Stony somewhere - avoiding roads *almost *entirely.

  • Northampton = Radlandas

    in my eyes

    R.I.P

  • Was intending on linking up a few of the old MK skate/BMX spots I know of old (pipeline anybody?) as the bones of the route, tommy... And doing a drag sprint on a certain stretch of redway ...

  • Before Radlands there was Roller City. Showing my age now.

I'd be happy to pop down to MK for a ride Skully if you have the inclination to set something up.

  • Pointer, that would have probably been me, i live in Abington over nr the cricket ground.

Good old Radlands.... and the sleep overs! ironically made into a timber yard/building suppliers!

  • Roller skating down near Amalgimated tyres was great. Oh the memories.

  • Heaver I live around the corner from the cricket ground - it must have been you.
there's a guy I see most days riding ss down the Welly rd into town and an old boy who caned it past me on a black ss road bike - he's probably pushing 50 and bloody quick! although I was on my kona at the time.

  • Another Northamptonian here, I'm pretty sure northampton hates bikes more than anywhere else in the world.

  • I helped make the staircase up to the top of the Halfpipe, back in the day when Tim Payne was building the first incarnation. That place was legendary.

  • Another Northamptonian here, I'm pretty sure northampton hates bikes more than anywhere else in the world.

You've never been to Australia then I take it?

  • milton keynes here... mk is really good for fixies - flat and fast [:

  • I'm sitting in Northampton right now. Fact,

I come to shoe town once a week to rehearse in my band. Normally on my hip fixie bike too. I know of a small underground movement of fixed/single speed riders here. Pm me for the info. They ride some Sunday's, normally to a pub in the village.

  • Just realised how old this thread is

  • Which village? I live relatively close but rarely venture into town.

  • I meant a village pub. None imparticular

  • Bump for another Northamptonian. And my first post :)

Currently building a couple of projects, one of which will hopefully be out on the road in the next couple of weeks.

But as above, Northampton's pretty sparse with regards to bikes and cycling in general, let alone fixed and vintage etc. which is a shame.

Noticed there is a Facebook group, 'Northampton Fixed Gear and Single Speed', but it hasn't been updated for almost a year!

So, anyway - a hello from me!
