That said, I still ride a Pompino and I love it although I'm intrigued by the rumours they aren't in fact as resilient to polo beatings as first thought.
Do people love them? I think my pompino is one of the worst* bikes Ive ever owned. I like that its cheap, and relatively tough for the price, but its basically a disposable piece of soulless crap that weighs a fucking ton. Thats what makes it good for polo, and bad for pretty much anything else. Did I mention that theyre really fucking ugly?
This new thing is the same geometry, with less tyre clearance and no brake bosses. Or mudguard eyes. Its not built for practicality, its clearly not built to look good, so..er. whats the point?
*Its not technically the worst, because I still have this old aluminium Ribble road frame, that rides exactly like the coke can on wheels that it is, which upsets me because my old SLX Ribble is one of my favourite bikes ever. Whats left of it, anyway..
