  • Made In Britain on BBC2 now, taking a look at British engineering/manufacturing. Had a piece on McLaren, and then Brompton. Visited both factories. Worth watching on iplayer.

As was that thing on BBC1 last night at 8, presented by Fiona Bruce, forget the name, about trying to determine the authenticity of a Monet painting. Very good indeed. Cabbaged right along with it.

  • game of frones...

    teh dagrons!

  • I just finished the Beeb documentary, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace, for the third time in two days.

    It's very good.

And what do you take away from it?

I watched the series, and although i'm struggling to pin down just how, i feel it's shifted my conception of the world a bit.

  • I don't have a telly, so I watch everything online. Now that Game of Thrones is finished for the moment, what should I aim my browser at?

  • w.r.t adam curtis, I always feel, watching his documentaries, that it all seems too concocted a narative. I only thought this more with his more recent films though. Watching his previous stuff, it's a little more conventional, lots of talking heads etc, less absolute in his delivery.

I remember an interviw I heard with him where he discusses how he feels the internet allows for more complex delivery and how TV demands its content be digestible for the semi comatose. "it felt like a kiss" (I never went I only saw the film) was obviously an effort to encapsulate a lot of complexity into one show, with no audio commentary, but this recent doc seemed a lot more simplified and reverential in parts; it seems he's pandered to the demands of TV.

  • Is it wrong that I like Shameless?

  • ^ American or British shamelessness?

  • I much prefer the american shameless

  • I haven't seen the American Shameless yet, but it has William Macy in it so that bodes well.

  • To me Macy performs better. Makes Frank a bit more believable. I think I found the uk one pushed too far.

  • Didnt know there was a 'merican one

  • Quite recent. Up to ep.5 on 4od

  • Geordie Finishing School.

    Holy fuck.

  • The Code is certainly the most interesting program on TV at the moment.
Tonights program about patterns in seemingly random behaviour is particularly interesting. Worth catching on iPlayer if you are into that kind of thing

  • Hmmmm.......C4 I am disappoint. 'How Hip Hop changed the World' is just another talking heads/list countdown. BBC4 would have done it justice
