Maybe for the batter?

Still here. But if I've learnt anything, when skitching there's little margarine for error...

Pah, you can all talk now, but wait until we meet at the lights and you'll all be toast!

But it looks so cool when they do it in the Mash videos?!

we used to use mates cars/ vans/ working vehicles to hitch up the mountain passes and into the forests sometimes when on MTBs, but that was more a case of seeing a mate drive past who would then stop and offer a drag up.
Got to say, even then, on big bikes, large empty clear roads and with the drivers full knowledge, its still pretty tricky to keep on without coming a cropper.
you might get 1in100 drivers who don't mind you putting a hand on their vehicle, but the other 99 will try and push your shit in.
goods vehicles probably make better leaning posts, as its unlikely to be their vehicle, though they are probably more likely to drive erratically to shake you.suggest HTFU, trackstand like a boss, trackstand> sprint start liek a bosse.

If you really want to go fast, hold on to two cars at once, for twice the speed.

I leant on the bonnet of a bentley drop a few years back after he cut me up at some lights. I looked back into the cabin to see the drivers seething and bright red (old geezer) with a hot young blonde next to me who just smiled at me and started laughing. Brilliant.
Anyway, I don't think there is too much wrong with skitching. I've skitched off pick ups who after seeing me in the mirror accelerate/brake conciensiously, no probs at all. Buses in London are fine, you pretty much know what they're gonna do and they don't care. some cars, but generally it is situationally dependant. If you can read the road you are reading drivers, if you can read drivers you know who you can and cannot skitch, if unsure a few seconds of touching their car will give you your response and you can move on.
I don;t like the way the forum has become so high and mighty. It seems everyong on here is a budding super-cycle-trainer and knows everything about safe cycling. Some of us ride for the rush, the adrenalin. Not all of us are fucking boring nodders in high vis jackets moaning about brakless riders because 'it's unsafe'. Fucking come at me in London and you'll be owned on these streets boyz.
Those of us with real experience under our belts have learnt what is and isn't acceptable to do in a given situation. We read what is/will and may happen all the time, awareness is not instant. It comes from previous mistakes. Cycle training and all the rules therein are just a saftely zone for new cyclists. You learn overtime what you can do.
I ride brakless so I can skid. I skid because I am a child at heart. I am a child and I want to have fun.

^^ Classic. An interesting variant on the 'I am an Alpha Male' post used to troll geek forums.

Although I basically agree with you the problem is people thinking they are experienced when they aren't (to quote a guy I pulled up about riding single brake fixed with no foot retention: "I know what I'm doing, i've been riding fixed for a year now!")... I'm including myself, I thought I was experienced last year, I was wrong.
How can you be sure you are?
Also if someone lent on my car I'd kill them in the face, except maybe piggy. :)
