Really? I've not been on the forum for long, but the person who gives out by far the most advice is Scoble, now I've not met the guy and opinions of him are divided to say the least however the one thing that EVERYONE seems to agree with is take any advice he gives you with a pinch of salt.
There are people on this forum whose knowledge of bikes is encyclopeadic, in fact after Sheldon, this would have to be the second place I would look for advice regarding bikes. It does however need to be said that just because someone is a member of this forum it does not make them any kind of authority. What you say in the quote above is, I believe, actually quite dangerous and mis-representative as when seeking advice here you need to know enough in the first place to separate the fatuous messing about of some members from the earnest well meant advice from others and the empty vessel style ramblings of the rest.
