• Keep an eye out and let him know if any are seen... this happened last night (Thursday 23rd June) and these bikes are pretty unique so should be easy to spot wherever they turn up.

    His messages:

David-we got broken into last night at our new venue for the bicycle library in East London, they got away with all my best fixed gear bikes and frames, they knew what they wanted. Can I email you a list of all items for you to put out an appeal to the forum to keep a hawk eye on the streets for any of these. Devastated, on my birthday no less...

    Hi All

These are shots of some of the bikes stolen from upstairs on the bus, tragic, but we can endeavor to get them back, seeing that there are no two alike in England, I designed and built them myself, if you see any of these, feel free to stop and question them on the spot and call 999 immediately. The police just told me this is the right of anyone who has suffered bike theft ( a lot of you must be like me). If you would rather just call me with any info, feel free to, along with the email address here. Feel free to print out and/or forward this email to anyone that might be able to help scour the streets these days, there will be a reward for anyone able to help.

    Many Thanks

  • Shit. Sorry to hear this Karta. Will keep an eye out.

  • Shocking news and really sorry to hear this. Karta's stuff is distinctive so hopefully will turn up. Will keep an eye out.

  • I'm all eyes

  • what bastards.

A lot of it is also brakeless... so I'd speculate that they might attempt to sell them on quickly, or have them taken to workshops.

Either way, I reckon they'll surface fairly soon as they're so unique I can't imagine them disappearing like mountain bikes would.

  • If anyone is going to Broadway Market on Saturday be sure to keep an eye out - all the crackheads sell stolen bikes at the top end (the bit between the junction and the entrance to London Fields). It's the new Brick Lane, apparently...

Keeping my eyes peeled Karta, make sure you get on to Our Friends With the Talking Brooches about it too.

  • I may be at broadway this saturday... is it worth karta or someone making up a list of the bikes with photos in a printable format we can print out and take with us? with his and anyone elses contact details as well...

  • Any better / bigger pictures?

Defo have a word with the Cycle Task Force.

    Bad times :(

  • sorry to hear that, I am always around LF. will keep my eyes open

  • is this the bus which is normally parked in the new nettle market, if so it's unlikely they will be selling them so close by (the crack head spot is 1 min walk from the bus). i'll keep an eye out anyways

  • Likewise. Ebay & Gumtree might be worth a look?

  • I'll be going through Broadway Market tomorrow morning - will keep 'em peeled.

  • Even crack heads wouldn't be that dumb, the bus was all of 100m from the top of broadway.

  • Doh, just read ^^^ repost shame hangs head.

  • This is definitely one for the CTF. Not nice as a welcome to Hackney!

  • Not sure. I foiled a bike theft the other night. Not long after, they were easily caught about 100m away.

When I had my entire record collection nicked, the thief sold them to the record shop about 500m from my house.

    Some thieves just are dumb.

  • The criminal always returns to the scene of the crime.

  • Thanks for the sharp eyes everyone, if you want your own images emailed to spread around, let me know your email. These bikes will surface soon enough. Feel free to joust them when you do see em...
Regardless of the bummer for a birthday, we will be there for a knees up tonight, come along if around London Fields, E8 3RL is postcode. 100m to the right of Cat and Mutton

  • Post up the bigger pictures here Karta.

Hope you have a good birthday and these turn up for you.

  • Mick said he saw someone cycle past LMNH today on a fixed bike with small wheels and no brakes.

Henry riding past LMNH on one of the stolen brakeless minis

In all seriousness though, eyes are wide and ears are open!

  • Very needed bump.

  • Yup.. Def deserves a bump... Hope you find the scrotes who took...

  • I saw a raw metal track frame with very distinctive curvy seattube and small (20"?) White wheels fir sale at the bottom of London fields. Is this one of the stolen numbers? Looks vaguely similar to the black one in the pics...
