just saw two black condors at brick lane, one condor pista, one road bike, both on the bit where the food stalls are on sunday, 3 young guys with hoodies selling them, on my way out I spoke to some cops who then went to check them out, hope it helps someone

If anyone sees a faded black Brooks B17 Pro for sale with a little luggage lock on the rail, or with a black 29.6 seatpost, let me know, it was stolen off my touring rig a few weeks ago. I have the key to the tiny lock on it (which didn't prevent the thief from cutting the cable!)
Sorry for the cross-post, I didn't see this thread before.

Hopefully you'll ride back. Give us an update to tell us how it goes.
i called the police on my way there. they sent one woman in a police car and she got there before i did. as she pulled in there were around 15 guys that just stood up and ran or cycled away. they didnt even tell her what my bike looked like and by the time i got there the guys came back with no bikes. its such a piss take getting so close to getting it back two times in one day. hopefully someone bought it and will sell it back to me though

by the time i got there the bike had been sold but i found the fucking cuntish thief that sold it.
Alex, be aware that it is quite possible that they lied to you about it having been sold, especially if you were recognisable as the owner.

it wasnt stolen from me directly. it was from stolen outside of my work. i walked up to them and asked if they had any fixed gears and they showed me one but i said i wanted one with fat tyres and they said they had just sold one so i asked if it was a silver one because a friend told me there was one being sold and they said yea it was silver but a bit rusty. i think they just sold it to someone, followed them and stole it from them again. thats just a guess though

Insurance companies name? DIrect line home insurance. avoid them like fucking daytime tv.
this was about 8yrs ago, but I would not believe their lies that they have changed.
All phone conversations I now have with banks, insurance, general toss pots are recorded from my end, their name and employee number extracted on tape at the beginning of the conversation.
FFS i'm only 24yrs and I'm about as bitter as the average 80yr old. / mini sat morn rant over. While you're at it avoid RBS Home Insurance as well - basically the same experience

Direct Line and RBS insurance are basically the same thing, as Direct Line is part of RBS.

Evening guys, new to the forum so bare with me.
I've had a very expensive bike stolen, Motorpoint team issue Pinarello Paris, from the smithfield nocturne race last weekend. The paint job is completely unique to the team so its recognisable, black and orange. Campag Super Record 11spd, MOst one-piece carbon bars, Corima Aero+ deep section wheels. As you can appreciate its worth a hell of a lot and i'm desperate to get it back. There is a cash reward as well.

hey guys i am new here and wow this thread is depressing, makes you question whether getting a decent bike is actually worth it in London. I am completely new to it all, got this bike which I was fucking loving riding around south London for my birthday in April. It was stolen from the back garden of the Honor Oak pub in south east London at the bottom of brockley rise last Tuesday whilst on my shift. Bit late now I know but if anyone claps eyes on it then great. Brake levers were cane creek and tyres duro stinger, that is all I can remember in terms of manufacturers.
cheers, harry.

I hope you get it back, and if you do, you should get a better lock for it.

was using a bigger one than that but still pretty shitty. from reading this thread if I get a new bike will be sure to invest in something proper.

It wasn't locked, but stolen from the pit area, where you'd expect the team's bikes to be safe:
You may be genuinely unaware of this high-profile theft. I would assume that magnier is Andy Magnier:

Hope it is found, Andy. These thefts of high-end bikes happen so often on the European racing circuit that you'd assume the bikes are split for parts. It's hard to imagine that they go to private collectors who keep them in private museums, as apparently happens with art.

Ah, I see. If I were aware I wouldn't have asked the question in the first place.
Hopefully it'll be found.

Really hope it is found. Its a lot of bike to replace. Just out of interest, would the team have to replace it or would it have to come out of the riders own pocket?

Having done the Nocturne for 2 years running (though not this year) this story was extremely sad to read. When I was there, the security was pretty high in the rider areas which were on the inside of the course and far away from the spectator areas which were on the outside of the course, though each rider was allowed to bring in a "helper". Wonder if it was one of those helpers with legit access to the pits who helped him/herself to a bike, or did someone actually breach the security otherwise? In any case, pretty poor show. I never let my bike out of my sight when I was there as I just didn't trust the whole thing, wristbands and security notwithstanding. :( I'm actually surprised that bikes being stolen from there hadn't happened already.
-
• #6597
Security in the pit/rider area was non existent.. I was not asked once to see my pass by anyone. very surprised only two went walkies..
-
• #6598
^this. I even took my Brompton to the toilet.
-
• #6599
Thet let me take a "shortcut" through the pit/rider area because I was pushing a bike. They let Leo through because he was "helping" me to push my bike either that or using it to prevent himself from falling over, not 100% sure which one, he used this opportunity to liberate a large quantity of red bull from the fridges, no one said a word, so yeah security was shit!

Why? Did it need a poo?
