I know people have cycled there before, in fact the last few years Glastonbury has encouraged it. Think they do organised rides from Bath and Bristol.
I emailed the site office last year about doing it, and they basically said: good luck, but we wouldn't necessarily advise it as traffic near the site can be dense/dangerous. I believe someone was knocked down and seriously injured or killed (not necessarily a cyclist) a year or two back.
Might be worth emailing the site office to ask about safe lock ups...and get friends in a car to take your tent, and beer!
It's seems it's all about cycling this year - http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.u...g-here/by-bike
"We're very pleased to announce the launch of some new initiatives to encourage Festival-goers to come to this year's Glastonbury by bicycle, as part of our new Green Traveller campaign. As well as reducing their carbon footprint and avoiding being stuck in car traffic queues, anyone who does arrive on their bike will get several rewards, including a free lock-up and an allocated campsite just for cyclists. We'll even transport your luggage/camping gear to the Festival for you."
I'm game...

ive heard that before - be careful about accepting website claims about this sort of thing, friends did this to big chill, and on arrival they said it was a fucking shambles, totally disorganised and not at all what they said - I advise you to have direct contact with organisers. good luck.

Thanks, yeah - if you read on it tells you "If you live within 20 miles of the site you can leave your luggage at any one of these towns and we will take it to the Glastonbury site and return it after the Festival" - not exactly convenient for a Londoner.
Might just get a lift down with the masses on the Weds.

Sustrans will be leading rides from several cities again this year to Shambala

I'm def game for riding if i can get my bag into a mates car. Current route would be summet like:
Home - Cambridge
Cambridge - London
London - somewhere between London & Glasto
somewhere between London & Glasto - GlastoCrashing on sofas along the way. Could be tricky finding somewhere to stay in the latter half of the trip. Probs about 300 miles total or so...

3 weeks today and I will be fucked out of my face, I cannot wait!!

I'm another still trying to decide whether to ride. Have a few choices for lifts but non that convenient, thinking getting my wine taken down and order a cheapo tent from millets to collect there. Train out to reading Tuesday night and looking at riding straight through other than stopping for solstace somewhere (it is the Tuesday yes?). Main concern is riding back after being fucked for 4 or 5 days...

I have had a twinge of wanting to be standing in a field with thousands of strangers for the express purpose of hearing some pumping atmospheric music this summer-
but I wont do it at Glasto again
Beautiful days was good and corporate free, Shambala is good and full of bikie hippies too,
anywhere else that puts a wing in your ding and a glide in your stride????Port Eliot. Totally unlike any other festival I've been to. Lovely.

*The founder of Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis, has said booking the Wombles was "a bit of a mistake". *

strikes me as a publicity stunt.... now you'll get more people watching them to see what it's about
I did like:
The hour-long set on the Avalon stage on Sunday 26 June will feature hits such as Remember You're a Womble.
that tickeled me; translated: The hour-long set on the Avalon stage on Sunday 26 June will feature hits their only hit -

They had loads of hits, they were on Top of the Pops all the time.
Because they were a band of session musicians, they didn't have any real members, so when they were on TOTP the bands on that week used to be asked if they wanted to do a song in a womble suit.If I was off my tits on acid on a nice sunny day, I'd much rather watch the wombles than U2 or Coldplay.

I've booked my train tickets from Paddington to Castle Cary - only 12 or so miles from the farm but with the amount of crap I'll be carrying, I'm not to bothered about going for a long ride. Even less so on my return ;)
I couldn't get Weds or Thurs off work his year so am going on my own and my friends will be there hopefully having set tents up. Nice!

Squeeeeee! Not long now!
I've sadly had to scrap my plan to ride on from the forum ride to Avebury on Monday night as I have to be back in London briefly on Tuesday. My mate works on the site and lives in Castle Cary though so I'm going to stay at his on Tuesday night.
Forum drinks? I'll be the dude in the green tent in the field.

Remove the drugs and the weather and the same holds true.

Anyone need a Car Park ticket? We have a spare

The only way I would like to watch U2 is stairing down the barrel of a sniper rifle.

• #144
I think you mean scope of a sniper rifle.
-
• #145
Unless he's implying he'd have to do a Kurt if he was subjected to them?
Will be heading down tuesday night by car. Not a familiar face on 'ere but if anyone fancy's a beverage i'll be the other dude in the same field as Stonehedge.
Or failing that, on the phone-charging-bicycle getting some laps in.

Good point, I'm new to assasination.
-
• #148
If the target is close enough to look down the scope, I think you're doing it wrong.
-
• #149
Fuck me, why are See Tickets and the Royal Mail having a bitch fight about who can be the most useless, incmpetent and unhelpful fuckers with my ticket. Have actually lost the desire to go as I'm so fucking stressed.
And has anyone ever tried calling See Tickets, fuck me how long can they keep you on hold for?
