it's only todgers at dawn because unless you shoot at targets or for vermin/food you have no idea what they are on about and as far as you are concerned guns means violence and death to people on the streets of hackney or in hollywood films.
anyway 22PPC or (6mm) for target 17rem, 22-250 for sporting or 25-06 for deer (if you shoot in scotland then something a bit bigger)
who cares about the cost of ammo? load your own and have a far more accurate rifle.
I grew up in the countryside and have often been shooting, rabbits, clay-pigeons and targets, I even have an old BSA Supersport here in my home in Peckham. However, considering the original subject of this thread being a cyclist being shot at I think that the way this thread has become predominantly about guns and ammo is inappropriate. Just saying.
