I'm still waiting for a replacement rim to turn up for my new hub geared wheel, then I'll probably sell all my other bikes... ;P
I was thinking how much I love my polo pomp. My 'fixie' is oddly uncomfortable now. Putting a larger chainring on to up my highest gear then I'll probably use it all the time.
Would post a picture but NIGHTRIDER might be watching.

Soma make a straight CX fork with disc mounts.

Yah, I'm struggling to decide between a pompino or pompetamine frame. The latter is tempting for the old hub gears down the line... Would get different forks in either case.

I'll take that as a compliment, nuknow...
It was.
What size is yours? -

frame. :D

Got an email back from On One to confirm that both the Pompino and Pompetamine forks are 390mm from axle to crown but no word back from Genesis on the Croix De Fer yet.

The ladies love it.

Because that's not what they are for.
Well, was just trying to imply on-one would probably make more money by making prettier frames besides pompinos. I dont think we can deny the demand is there.

Just been on the One One website and it looks like they're doing the Pompetamine in black now with some nice new decals. Anyone know if the decals on the On One frames are laquered on? I'm still tempted to clear coat mine when I get it but I like the new decals
-
• #289
Yes, they're lacquered on. Well, on the pompino at least.

Imagine a pompino without sloping toptube and excessive canti mounts for 150e. Just a minimalistic track frame instead of the jack of all trades it is now.
On-one are making a frame a bit like this called the Machinato, here is a picture of some prototypes from their blog (the red and blue-purple frames):
You can see it more side-on on this photo from Dalby Forest, look at the large size and compare Machinato with Pompetamine and Pompino below.
A cheap steel On-one frame with track sensibilities that takes normal caliper brakes is very tempting; decals and colours not to my taste though.

That looks like a sort of british equivalent to the IRO Mark V in the US. Although it seems to have a cable guide.
If they'd built that 4 years ago they'd be gazzillionaires.

From what I can see the welds look pretty tidy on the bb, which is nice. I guess it all comes down to the price and the tubing. I think the graphics are ok, and as their paintjobs don't have the best rep, I guess it doesn't matter.

Oh absolutely - I already own a brown Pompino so the looks of the new frame aren't in any way a deal breaker. But I'd bite their hands off if it was in 'that blue' with subtle / removable decals.
I was planning on getting a Fuji Track or similar later in the summer for roller use and general fair-weather riding about town so I think I'll hold off until the Machinato is available, reckon it will be a decent alternative.

GAH! I was literally about to drop £130 on a large blue Pompetamine frame. Went to website: back up to £170! Called up and begged: no joy. Sale ended at midday today. FUCKSTICKS.
So anyway, not really keen to pay £170 for that frame so if anyone has a large Pompetamine or Pompino frame they want to sell, I'm in the market for one.

Timmy, can you able to wait a bit till they do the sales again? you and I know that there 100% will be a sales again at the same price, or do you need it urgently?

Yeah, cheers, Ed - you are right; they are pretty frequent, eh. I can wait - just annoyed as I dithered over whether to get a pompino or pompetamine for two weeks, decided today and missed the sale by 90 minutes! I thought they might relent and let me buy over the phone at the sale price but he held firm.
I can wait - am just itching to start a new project. Don't currently have a fixed bike so was going to build up a fixed tracks 'n' trails supercommuter. If anyone has a similar frame, similar size I could be swayed...

Absolutley gutted! Been listing a load of stuff on ebay to pay for one of these. Thinkin I'd get it in the next couple of weeks. Could have put it on the overdraught too. Anyone know if their sales are regular and when the next one might be? I could hang out till the end of August I reckon but I'm guessing they won't be doing one again that soon.

There's always a few on eBay.
Now I'm confused. I just looked on their website and the axle to crown measurements are listed as 400mm for the Pompino fork and 390mm for the Pompetamine. Making the Pompino taller. This doesn't seem right.
Gonna drop em an email and see what they say.
Also gonna drop Genesis an email to see what the dimensions of the Croix De Fer fork are. Much prefer the look of the Genesis fork.
