You got lucky on the NHS though. Not everyone would even qualify for treatment - I wonder what the waiting list time is like is for just boring stuff?
Hippy, you are talking rubbish
Every one who is eligble for NHS care , ie almost all of us including you, is eligble for NHS Dental treatment.
Most is good quality, though there are some practices playing games over what's avaialble on the NHS. If they say they can't do a crown etc then leave the chair, contact PALs to complain and go else whereWaiting times are minimal or non existent.
I am , or was , paid to get more of you to see NHS dentists...

That's Joseph's practice. I know him from well.
You get a great view of what was the Barkers of Kensington building from the Dental chair.

How much is it likely to cost me to repair a chipped top right incisor - it's a horizontal chip at the bottom of the tooth - a little thing a couple of mm wide and deep. Just a case of filing it down? Or having something put over it?
I haven't been to a dentist since I was 16. About 10 years.
General costing for other run of the mill stuff? Fillings? Root canals? Crowns? Don't think I need any of that as I don't have any trouble with my teeth apart from the chip at the front which crumbled rather too easily for my liking the other week. Didn't hurt, just felt something gritty in my mouth. Spat it out and it was a chunk of tooth.
Which probably suggests some deeper underlying problems - bruxism or some shit.

Can I use NHS to go to the dentist? As in for free?
-
• #110
no. just google it, 3 rate bands, depending on what you need to get done, root canal can be done on the NHS, crowns and fillings you might not want to do on the NHS. Or alternatively board the next flight and get done somewhere else cheaper.

Getting pain in my jaw at the back where I assume my wisdom teeth are - never noticed them coming out before - but surely there's no more space back there for teeth. I've had a good fiddle. The teeth feel sound. Feels almost muscular. But it hurts to clench and it concerns me that it's just one side (the right).
Also I STILL have the above chipped tooth.
Can anyone recommend anywhere reliable in **Putney **that can fix my mouth with a minimal amount of pain and embarrassment? If they can make my teeth pearly white and strong again, that'd be lovely. But I warn you, my near constant diet of coffee, cake, orange juice and wine will only fuck them up again soon.

Might just be gingivitis at the very back of your teeth - is the gum red, shiny, swollen? If so, try Cordosyl for a few days. And floss!
It's worth having your chipped incisor looked at. Cracks and crevices are ideal hiding places for bacteria. Could be easily fixed.

I've got no idea - it's right at the very back and my eyesight is rubbish.
Floss = anathema for me.
I liked the sound of these guys:
http://new.gentledentalputney.co.uk/fees-charges-2They sound gentle.
But then I saw that, if my back right tooth is buggered, they'd charge me FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY QUID to fix it.
I also don't like the verb they use when talking about wisdom teeth - 'erupt'. I don't want a fucking eruption in my mouth.

Went to dentist two weeks ago, got a cavity filled. Had to remind dentist that the original reason for my visit was having broken one of my molars in half 3 weeks previously, and that he'd said he could put a temporary filling in for me while I wait for referral for an extraction. Temporary filling fell out completely this morning while brushing my teeth (at least that means I must have been doing it right).
Questions:
- Temporary fillings are supposed to last for longer than 14 days, yes?
- When I go back will he charge me for re-doing it? He didn't originally charge me for the cavity filling and the temporary filling, only for the cavity filling
Extracting the molar myself is impossible as it's only partially-erupted, before anybody suggests it. Also I am too much of a pussy to try.

This place is amazing. I have ordered the magical amateur dentist cement, and look forward to becoming the DIY dental expert of my social circle. Thank you!

Went to Perfect Smile in Putney.
1st visit - figure out what's going on in my mouth - really friendly and knowledgeable young dentist - 15 quid - x rays and stuff - no trouble in my wisdom teeth - he suggested it was just joint/tendon pain from clenching in my sleep (euph), in fact he remarked that I have (unusually) well developed wisdoms.
2nd visit two weeks later - hygienist - she was friendly enough in a matronly way. hacked the fuck out of my mouth but I'm sure it was for a good cause. Half hour later I went in to get the chip on my front incisor fixed. (private rather than nhs as the nhs waiting time was ages) he filed the chip a bit bigger and roughed up the edges and somehow chemically bonded something in the gap. 90 quid for the lot.
It looks very good. Feels a bit weird. very slightly rough surface at the back and he said to be careful eating apples/raw carrot etc. Very slightly longer than my left incisor so I may go back and get it filed down if it doesn't grind down naturally soon.
Good value compared to what I was anticipating, and now I don't have to talk with my mouth partially closed.
If you're short of a dentist in an SW postcode, I'd certainly recommend this place.

Just wondering can anyone recommend a good NHS dentist in se17 area?
If you used a Polish builder in the first place it never would've come loose ;)
