Just developed a roll of film I shot 8 years ago.
Scanning a lot of the shots, some come out B&W and others with a slightly coloured cast like so:Should I desaturate them in ps?

imho I like the tone of the first picture actually. Makes it more realistic/personal somehow? I am anti PS though.
This thread is always good motivation to get my old rolls developed!

I used to shoot on minolta dynax 5, it automatically wound the film back into the spool but it always left the last bit. I had all my films organised on my desk at home into exposed and not exposed, my mum then tidied my desk and now I have a pile of film that's ancient and potentially usable but I have no way of telling and I'm too tight on cash to just get them all done.

What film is it? That's annoying but I'm sure there are other ways of telling if it's been exposed trying to remember...you could always take some double exposures! A good lab won't charge you anyway I don't think.

It's a whole mix of B&W, c41 b&w and cheapo colour film.

I wanted a Barcelona kit so badly when I was 9. We went on holiday there and Gary Lineker played for them

As you were...

hahaha! Amazing. I nearly bought one in Madrid (yes Madrid) but they're SO expensive.
Anyway, mooching in my local charity shop today and found a Lubitel 166. My friend's the manager and gave it to me for £4!!!! I told her it wasn't enough but she laughed and pointed out the shitty 35mm Kodak p & s' they were selling for £15 that hipsters actually buy. (head office do the pricing) Fairs fair...

Here's a few from a film I shot 8 years ago in Italy but didn't develop because I didn't have B&w developing available. HP5+, not sure of ISO
Some from a 8am wander round town, too out my head to go home.
fuji 800, olympus xa2And a double exposure after the film jammed:

The Contax T arrived on Tuesday. It is a thing of beauty.
It feels a lot more solid than the Olympus XA and the Canonet, but I guess it was probably more expsensive than both of them when new and still today!)
My example thus far appears to be in first rate condition with one or two slight marks in the finish, but no dings or dents.
The handling is not as good as the XA. The ergonomics of the XA are simply unbeatable. Th Contax by comparison is a bit fiddly, opening the front cover is not a one handed job like the clamshell XA, and when open, the cover is a bit in the way of the focusing and aperture controls, so from an ergonomics perspective, the XA wins.
The winder on the Contax is lovely, it has a short, but quite thumbable (is that a word) lever that clicks flush into the body when not in use, but it has a second click position where it is perfect for quick winding.
The rangefinder on the Contax is beter than the XA and has a smother, better damped action which feels more acurate.
As to the optics, I am only half way through my first roll so I might be able to post some images at the weekend.

aaah but did you like the photos+Barcelona is on a grid system so getting lost is pretty difficult. just keep pedalling and you will just come round to a place you know!

hey mother girl all photos were shot using a lubitel 166U (u for universal i think?) i'm with you being anti photoshop for anything film related so all these are just what i took no PS, i used a fujifilms standard 400 iso 120 roll film, it's okay and because of the speed of the film it produces slightly grainy shots... i would get a 100 roll from a lomography store. they will tell you all about your camera and give you good film (although slightly expensive). i say 100 because barcalona is quite bright and with 100 a super clear image will be produced (if focused correctly)...

Spent the day at home in bed with a cold so been reading up on m-mount cameras.
been curious about a minolta cle before, but think a more modern bessa r2 is a more sensible choice.
Lenses though are a right jungle. Can anyone give any pointers to a beginner? looking for something wide, 30mm or so, and a standard 50.
These would then also spend some time on a 4/3 digital body (sorry, wrong thread), but if that matters, now you know

Not a huge amount of choice for M-Mount :)
voigtlander lenses are very good and reasonably priced
zeiss are better and expensive
leica are better still (debatable) and hugely expensiveI have a voigtlander 35mm 1.4 nokton on my M6 which I think I paid around £300 for
-
• #2367
It's a jungle at first at least, i've only read up on canon ef lenses so far, so know them a fair bit but not much else
Yeah voigtlander lenses seems to be well priced, gotta read up reviews a bit as well.
The main question though, is it a good or bad idea to trade a 5d mk1 with a 50/1.4 for a bessa r2 + lenses and a micro 4/3 body with m-mount adapter to still be able to snap away digitally?
will the 4/3 camera be utter shit compared to 5d? My main gripe with the 5d is that i leave it home too often, so it's counter productive to have such a nice camera and never use it
-
• #2369
I would say that that doesn't sound like a great deal - but I don't know about 5d prices now - depends on what lenses the r2 is being offered with though..
I must admit to being a bit disappointed with the u4/3 IQ - would be a BIG step down from the 5d's full frame...

For what it's worth I did almost exactly that, and for the same reason. I replaced Pentax K7 and some top lenses with an Oly E-P1 w/ 20mm and a Pentax MX with 24mm. Zero regrets. Whatever you lose in image quality is made up for ten fold by having it with you when you want it. What good is a 5D at home on the shelf? #metamerge -

^ exactly my thoughts
I really really like the 5d though so will be sad to see it go, but a camera should be used, not sit at home.
- all my shots end up on blog / digital so huge MP isn't that much of a case.
And if I can share lenses between analogue / digital camera that'd be even better. I want to shoot more film, so a bessa will be on it's way soon anyway if I know myself right...

quick maths and google / ebay gives me
panasonic gf2 body only = £299
bessa r3a = £350
Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 VM Nokton Classic = £400
total: £1050that's without looking around properly
and if i can get £600ish for my 5d with battery grip, and say £175ish for the 1.4, it's not that far off....
(i can share more of my private economy, just ask)

• #2373
moving this to the digi thread where it belongs
if anyone got more pointers on m-mount lenses or bessa's that'd be appreciated though

Where can I pick up some Provia before my flight today - Ideally in Hackney?
@ Jake - really like the guy in the street and the multiple exposure. What film were you using? I love Barcelona so much I'm now a commited fan of FC Barcelona!! Peer pressured by Spanish friends in other words.
