Looked at this thread then had a really bad night a few days later....wierd. The horror of only having 4 hours kip then attempting to function, let only work. Also then got 'the fear' about being able to sleep the following night.
Acc to The Guardian food, esp saffron could help?...

Curiously I have got much better since my course has finished. Maybe it was just stress and guilt about not working keeping me up this whole time.
-
• #679
No, it was you starting your work at 10pm then working through the night that kept you up.

Excited about this weekend's race, watching videos of past races and realised i've forgotten most of the track. Gotta be up for work in less than 4 hours, balls.

"the flying raleigh lizard" rides again. best of luck mick.
eventually got off somehwhere around three. four hours actual sleep preceded by five hours of tossing and turning. i don't normally suffer with this and there really wasn't anything particular on my mind. it was just one of those situations where my brain refused to turn off. that and every possible comnination of positions i put my limbs in seemed to be less comfortable than the previous. i literally forgot how to lie down. every which way seemed to result in a cricked neck, a foot or an arm getting cut off and losing feeling, getting too hot too too cold. combine that with a brain that was enlessly mulling over mundanities of everyday life like "i wonder if i should buy new pedals - or just new cleats" or "maybe i should fix my guitar tomorrow instead of going swimming" and i managed to deprive myself of a desperataly needed night's rest.
ah well, i don't feel as bad today as i thought i would. hoping today's planned physical jerks will exhaust me into sleep tonight. to be honest i think that may have had a lot to do with it. the succession of mental busy days at work, late nights and early starts had left me in a state where i hadn't the energy to run/ride/swim since last friday. i'm sure the lack of physical exercise contributed to the inability to drop off.

I can already sense that I'm not going to sleep tonight, and it's going to SUCK.

I had every intention of getting up early for a cycle. I haven't had a cycle in about three weeks due to silly workload... So far not so good...
-
• #693
I wanted to cycle. And go to cinema. All fucked up now..

Might go for a ride soon. Been awake since 2:00 and I'm booooooooored. Not looking forward to the next few weeks.
Just finished 3 weeks of night shifts and I have 3 more after two weeks of working days. not happy.

Been walking around my room for an hour in a trance tidying and rearranging the furniture because I can't sleep. Also decided to try and fix my broken drawers with glue. Sewn up the holes in my toy cat. I've moved everything that belongs to sumo that was on the floor or on a surface to a multitude of different organised locations that he will most likely never find. This room is 200% better than it was before but I'm still not satisfied. I want to move my bookshelves and hoover but that's kind of unacceptable at 2.30am.

Figured i'd do a little bit of studying before going to bed, turns out a little bit is 3 hours and it's now almost 3am.
...which just reminded me of this:
Double fail.

Why do my neighbours insist in building their furniture at this hour?!?

What, finding Busted music videos? ;)
bear with me for my second dredge of the week.
so my body's been doing this really really fun thing where i wake up at 6am every morning, no matter what time i fall asleep. it's fucking great. so i'm averaging about 4 hours a night.
upside: days are really long when you start them at 6am.
downside: ted. is. a. zombie.
