I suspect it's rather too late now.

That look thicker than a bloody powdercoat, what did you do? paint it in all kind of red until you find the right one?
-
• #180
Oh fuck off Ed. And I say that as a friend.
-
• #181
+1
this is getting bloody boring
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
it actually looks like a good job!
-
• #182
Is it me or is it quite thick on the lugs?
-
• #183
Fortunately, it has super thick lugs, so you can still see them.
-
• #184
i'm not jumping on any bandwagon, haven't really got a massive problem with this paulo dude, but i will agree with ed that the paint does look pretty thick
-
• #185
Yeah, it's a bit thick. But it's really deep and glossy. You can see how smooth it is, too (bar the unfilled pinhole on the seattube).
What I'd like to know now is - how much does Paulo charge for that kinda job?
-
• #186
I laughed So much I joined the forum.
-
• #187
how much would you pay?
-
• #188
What's the relevance of that picture to this particular thread?
-
• #189
Well I paint my own frames :P
Argos charge £125 for F+F, Bob Jackson charge £90, so... around that area I guess. It's certainly a much better job than any powdercoat. If you're based in London or can do cheap postage, it'd be a great alternative to having to pay for expensive couriers to take frames up to Bob Jackson.

To put this debate to rest once and for all, I present to you: Renault tubing

Based on what's been shown here, you cannot begin to compare with Argos, Jackson, Mercian et al. If the standard of finish came very close and at the same time was significantly cheaper, then you'd certainly be on to something. Significantly cheaper though is not enough by itself or we'd all settle for powder coating on our best bikes.

Is it me that is thick between the lugs?

balki
i can see where your mind is going !! -

I was quoted 110 squid by paulo....
-
• #195
Sorry but that is not much less than Argos who are generally are held in high regard.
Unless you mean real squid, and small ones at that.

I truly don't get this sort of 'businesses'.
So far we've seen 2 pictures of frames (red and blue), none of them seem to be worth the time to even consider calling you (IMO).
Furthermore, you still seem to be clueless about pricing your own work when comparing with big names
out there. Quoting Roadrash: "...Based on what's been shown here, you cannot begin to compare with Argos, Jackson, Mercian et al...",
and that's because what you've shown us so far are just plain, boring attempts at a paint job, done (IMO) with little 'touch' when it comes to bikes...
...at least to be quoted 110 pounds. I mean, why would anyone call you when Mario Vaz charges less and the man has been doing it for ages?
Will do everything from blasting your frame to applying decals and lug lining... -

Come on, you never shop with a market leader, they've got nothing to prove! The best deals are with up and coming pretenders to the throne.

I would consider a deal if I could see anything worth the money.
