Hi - sorry to post on this thread but i'm in this nursery area at the mo so cant start a new one etc etc..
thing is, i want to start cycling to get my cardio vascular for the week under my belt on the way to and from work and keen to wade in asap and also keen to go the fixed wheel route but not keen to fork out a load of cash to start with...i've found a 'VIKING ROAD FIXIE 2010' for £150 which seems to be a ridiculously good price but is it cheap because its a piece of sh*t or is it actually a vaguely respectable little number for me to start with?!

Much appreciated -

Jaysus man - you've gone into the track specific part of the forum to ask a question that has jack shit to do with anything - not good
maybe you should have waited to get out of the nursery first eh - it's there for a reason so you don't do daft things like this ^^^^^^

you're new here aren't you, bless…
now before you start getting your knickers in a twist and getting all upset, what was being pointed out to you was forum etiquette - If you want an answer to your question then wait until you can start your own thread and don't try and circumvent the forum rules - these exist so you don't make a tit of yourself with your first posts
and yes - the viking road fixie wixie sounds like a duff gas pipe road conversion that has been bodged together - If you'd waited and created your own little thread then you could have added pictures as well and then you'd have a more comprehensive answer to your query but as it is then you've done the equivalent of asking "I'm thinking of buying a car - are they any good"

Putney Cycles & C.S. Grupetto are hosting the next one on June 4th.... Ive heard rumours of flying 200's, and handicap sprints... And maybe even giant salami prizes!
I heard a rumour that the flying 200 time would be used to decide on the handicap sprint position. Any creativity in the non sprint part of the program?
Giant salami is loads more generous than the usual prizes*

We will also be doing win-outs, scrtch races, points, and maybe an unkown distance.
At the moment we are still trying to work out if handicap sprints, or match sprints would be easier to manage. Will update tomorrow with a final programme of racing.

Enough of the flirting!
Schedule for Saturdays racing?
Lets have match sprints - masters only around the corner! -
• #96
Match Sprint?? Hmmm... I might dust off the bike... oh wait I did that last week and it rained...
-
• #97
Lookng forward to it (not the winout though) weather forecast is excellent!
-
• #98
Might bring the bike along and have a spin round!
-
• #99
yep, weather is looking grand.
It's also looking like we might be doing 4 up match sprints instead of handicap sprints, as the general consensus is that working out the handicaps is going to take too long to be manageable.
Programme on its way tomorrow.

How do these open events usually work?
I have only ever raced reading /welwyn evening leagues and am sort of at the top end of the B groups (get smashed if I race A's and am a little below my usual level when I would be capable of winning a B event).
There is also a chance I may not be able to get there for the 2.30pm start. would it be worth missing the first event or 2? how many events are there?
details and programme to come shortly.
