yeah. i like it too, cause some of his eras were amazing and all have their merit. but we're better off having the range than had he stuck with one of the styles, even one of the stronger ones. he may be an individual mammal but i feel his artisitic output is of greater value than some whole eras of whole civilisations
My favourite bob song is the demo of I'll keep it with mine (a song he gave to nico) on that 3 disc compilation from the 90s? I forget the name of it. I'm a long time bob fan and happen to love most of his voices up until recently. I do think people assign import and meaning to lot of his blonde on blonde era lyrics that just isn't there though. Desolation row and visions of johanna always felt self Indulgant, meaningless and overly revered to me. My favourite dylan stuff is more low key, percy's song, song for woody Guthrie, I'll be your baby tonight, lay lady lay, don't think twice it's alright, love minus zero... Just breathtaking Genius. I love bob but will never defend him to non bob believers. I never saw the point. Happy birthday bob you funny, awkward, splendid old scrote! X
repped. although i enjoy the self indulgent desolation row and don't agree about johanna.
i dont really know any Bob Dylan songs
hahaha
I've never really gotten into Dylan, (too busy listening to The Beatles, Zeppelin and Ray Charles at Uni), and in my gig photographer day I saw him headline the Fleadh festival in 2004, and it was one of his "bad' gigs. I wanted to be impressed, but all I got was some old fart playing blues jams that I could see in any pub. No-one could work out what he was mumbling, and he didn't play any of his hits. So I've never really made an effort. I own his greatest hits, and my best mate loves him, but he just does nothing for me.
unfortunate that his voice is no good recently (IMO, it may be to some people's taste) because he had a fantastic singing voice for most of his career. more accurately two or three fantastic singing voices.
