Ano grey even better.
+1 Definitely want to build up a pair of those. Think the black suit the Marshall well tho. Nice Build and healthy looking Toms.

Hey. I wan't to share my current project with you. It's a 1970's Viner Special Professional.
My DIY-thread at fixie-king.dk is in danish but you can view it through google translate here:
The real interesting stuff starts at page 7. ;-)

fully rigid MTB is getting there, right now I'm installing Shimano SLX disc brake instead of Deore.
Just put on some flat bar too (not pictured), going to get another tyre for the rear to match the front (2.1 front, 1.9 rear).
Are they 29er forks or suspension corrected ? Look a little too long ?

Just another handlebar w/o scratches maybe (3TTT Gimondi or Pista to match stem and saddle) ??? -

I was looking for another 3tt pista bars. But i am riding it to Berlin this summer so I am going for comfort untill then. Also this was the one that came with the bike. And the paintjob ended up costning a lot so I have to get the funding first.

Definitely too long for the bike, but at least that means Ed will only need 30mm of spacers rather than his usual yard or two

True, dat, and QR on the wrong side, brake cables missing etc, but it is a good illustration of the correct fork geometry.

And of a bike with good potential to be pornalicious

what's the effect of having the qr on the wrong side?
i always put front on driveside and rear on non drive side, purely out of habit.. -

Specifically, but in laymans terms, what is the down side of using forks that are too long?
For eg if I were to put the charge sissor(?) forks on an old MTB how would the Hamelin feel in comparison.

surely it exaggerates the angle of the headtube, giving a less responsive ride?
-
• #45995
what's the effect of having the qr on the wrong side?
A: It looks wrong, because asymmetric QR levers are 'handed' to go on the left
B: Your race mechanic will be on the wrong side of the bike if you need a wheel change, because they are all used to having them on the correct side. There arguments for switching sides on the front with disc brakes, but that doesn't apply here.

• #45996
Even with disc's I put my qr's on the non-drive side. Never burnt my fingers as I don't overtighten the qr

The head angle is reduced (in cycling terms, increased if you're a motorcyclist) and the trail is increased. Both of these slow the steering. In extremis, too much trail causes to head tube to drop too much as the wheel turns, so your bike handles like a Swedish chopper

With discs, the argument for getting rid of the QR completely is far stronger than any arguments about which side you should put it.

Yeah, a through axle is a bit slower to change. Or if you use bolts then it's pretty easy with an allenkey

New levers for the nelson this week, so good riding on the hood again
I think the gumwalls are helping.
