^repost,
but the reason I came here today is because as I left the house earlier I was admonished by a visiting family member for setting off on my bike, without a helmet.
A moment after I left he turned and struck his head on the garage door, receiving a nasty cut to the head, and concussion. My partner came out and found him sitting on the doorstep, covered in blood and repeating the same thing every 45 seconds or so, which revolved around my safety, "I hope he is alright without a helmet on"
He seemed completely oblivious to his own injury.
Moral? always wear a helmet if you want to protect your head, but don't victimise cyclists who don't unless you do while doing everything else.
