Sorry for the excessive pictures, I'm smitten. Just got this in the post. Oh my days.
Dutch Cheese, you know anything about Bezemer? Also, does anyone have a nice set of silver Open Pro's laced to something suitable?

@ DBR
Bezemer was a quite well-known Gazelle dealer from The Hague area (Alphen aan de Rijn).
Johan used to be a team mechanic in the good old days and his wife (Wil Buitelaar) was riding for the team as well.
Together with Petra de Bruin (World Champion 1979 Valkenburg) and Leontien van Lienden (ex Mrs. Jean Paul van Poppel)
Must have been in the same are as your frame has ben made, late 1970's or so.But to be honest, I don't know the man in person, nor the shop.
Looks like the shop is gone now. -

And yes Concor saddles do seem to compliment a nice lugged Gazelle frame very well.
Agreed.

Marktplaats has some on sale still under 75 euros: http://link.marktplaats.nl/447124706
There are two other sets, but they've gone over 200 euros. I'd check ebay-- I just got a set from America for a good price with Suntour Superbe Pro hubs at a decent price.

Cheers Rona, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Just drilled the back of the fork to 8mm on my other Champion Mondial. Setting up a dual pivot brake definitely makes up for minor puppy killing.

Shipping from America was 80 dollars for the wheels (plus a bunch of other parts thrown in the box)... so factor that in when you look at ebay :/ Shipping can stink and I'm pretty sure they will slap some customs on me.

Don't know if this is a Champion Mondial.. but so far the price is right for 25 Euros. The stickers look good.

No, not a CM, and as far as I can see even not a Trim Trophy or Tour de l'Avenir.
Looks like a non-Reynolds, no bottle bosses, no shifter bosses, etc.
EUR 25 may be okay, but that's the max.
IMHO not worth the fuel, time or postage. -

Thanks for pointing that out. I couldn't really tell.

advertiser says they are Champion Mondials. It's a mixte and a man's bike sold as a set with no bids so far. You can see the 531 sticker on the Mixte. Might be worth emailing and asking him if he ships out of NL. The mixte is set up a lot like my semi-race, but the crank arms are nicer than mine.. sniff sniff sniff sniff.

Transferred the group over and it actually looks pretty good with dark grey rims etc. Might not have to drump a load of cash on 70's campag bits.

I'm now officially on the look out for a Champion Mondial. I see there are loads advertised in Holland and they seem to be going for very affordable prices. Anyone know if the good ones get snapped up quickly as I think I'm at a disadvantage not speaking the language although in my experience English is pretty well spoken everywhere.
Will keep you posted on my progress unless anyone has a 54cm in brilliant condition with original campag that they want rid of?? -

Please note that quite some traders are after those bikes and frames and bid on just anything with a Gazelle decal. That isn't making the situation any better/cheaper/funnier/nicer/easier.
I guess that 99% goes via Marktplaats.nl (auction site).
I can help you with bidding, communication, and payment and can even do pick up if it's near.
Not going to drive all over the country or ship full bikes though.
Most people are not going to send full bikes and don't take Paypal. You can keep an eye on postings of e.g. Rih, SimplexNL and some others.

Well, what else can a man dream of ?

I can think of 1 or 2 things but bike-wise it is a beauty, see classifieds for more pics

I'm trying to date a couple of Gazelle frames and wondered if any of the experts could help? I know there used to be a date calculator online but have been unable to find this after searching. Anyway, the first frame is a Champion Mondial in mainly Reynolds 731 OS the frame number stamped into the BB is 3792065.
The second frame is in Reynolds 525 but underneath the seat tube/top tube lug the lug itself is embossed with 735, the frame number in the BB is 7792376.
I can provide pics if needed but any help in dating these frames much appreciated :)

A Champion Mondial in 731 OS? That is quite rare.. Don't believe they made CM's in 525 though.. That's a Formula I presume?
-

525 was introduced sometime in the late 90s, and i think 731 is from sometime around early 90s, if that's any help.

525 with 735 embossed: I think this refers to the angle of the lug (73 degrees)
Frame number of the 525 looks a bit weird. But many times it's hard to read.
See also this chart (apparently proided by Gazelle): https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0An2pci5b781hdGV2bmNCMU5kTmxjNHFkQ2JRanBJQkE&hl=en#gid=0731OS: 1995, very close to the one in this list (not 100% reliable) ? http://fivenineclimber.com/bikes/gazelle/misc/serial_numbers.htm
Compare your frames with the pics in the old online catalogues:

Thanks guys.
Peter and DC it looks like the 731OS is 1995 as colours are identical to this:
http://fivenineclimber.com/bikes/gazelle/other_frames/731os.htm
And frame number on mine is only 15 numbers higher than the frame number above. So perhaps was made 14 frames later?
Here are some pics, which may help (731OS):
And the 525, which Rodolfo I believe 'might' be a 'Formula' and DC I've double-checked the frame number it's def 7792376 (stamped clearly for a change!) the usual 'GAZELLE' is not stamped in the BB although there is a Gazelle panto on the top of the shell:

Fudge, that 731 one is nice.. Still looking for one in a size 58 (Gazelle sizing)
-

I'm mistaken.. It's a "Race" model.. Formula was lower end and 501.. That 731os CM is real beaut! Love the colorway.. It's in many features similar to my Gazelle Exception, 731os, fastback seatstay, same style cableguides (although mine only has 1 at either end of the tt, not two), and your rearbridge is different/nicer.. Really nice find.. mine's a great ride, enjoy her!
^ at 6'4" I would have thought it might be too big but with such incredibly long legs I can understand why it's not! And yes Concor saddles do seem to compliment a nice lugged Gazelle frame very well.
