  • Tapping slabs of foam to your forks is a bit overkill though.

    Not when I'm selling it 2 years later as NOS.

  • Hello forumenzians!!
    I got this frame but Im unsure on what to do with style wise.
    I have been told elswhere to keep its colour but Im still open to suggestions.
    I throw it at your mercy!
    thanks!

  • Not when I'm selling it 2 years later as NOS.

    I'd market it as being upgraded, with light weight fins, that pull dirty air away from the front spokes. Making the bike faster, and even keeping the spokes clean.

    I'm an untrustworthy shite though.

    Whatever you want as long as you ride it an enjoy it.

  • Wait for The Scoble to turn up and give you advice, then gleefully ignore it

  • Got all my bits transferred onto this wee GCM. Black stem looks surprisingly good, though shiny would probably looks even better.

  • Black probably would look better, but it's a pretty inoffensive item. Tubs?

  • Nah, gumwalls. I do have some old tubs on mad blue annodized rims, but they are rolling off a bit, and I can't be arsed gluing them.

    Despite the small frame and seat pushed forward / shortish stem, I still can't rest my hands on the hoods without feeling stretched out. I'm 5'8" and it's a 53cm frame, so surely it should be fine... ideas?

  • get a shorter stem? More compact bars? I have the same problem, I have a 57cm frame, but the stem bars and levers add another 15cm to that so its no suprise really. I think though a lot of it is just experience, getting used to it and all that....

  • though shiny would probably looks even better.

    shiny things ALWAYS look better! :)

  • some smaller ergo bars would bring in the reach, whats the tt measure?

    Replace the seatpost with a straight Thomson post as these are dead straight and have no lay back. This would reduce your reach by about 30mm (ish)

  • Inline seatpost.

  • I also thought about an inline seatpost, but they are expensive and ugly. Might try some bars with less forward reach / bit more compact, any ideas? ...apart from equally ugly modern ergo bars. The top tube is 54cm.

    Those bars have quite a long reach. I'd switch them for something like this. Nothing else needs changing unless your a Scoblesaurus.

    Most important is to do more road miles (stretching afterwards).

  • any other suggestions where I can one of these token ones that isn't £27.50 (velosolo compared to £17.99 wiggle) or another suitable bb?

    £24.98 inc. post from http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/product/BB_TOKEN_ISO_CAMPY.html?action=currency&id=GBP

    but order from Wiggle first, they're showing 2-7days, and they'll get back to you in a day or so if it's going to be longer than that, and if it is in stock at their wholesaler you'll probably get it only a day later from Wiggle than from Totalcycling.

  • I contacted wiggle they said they have no idea when it will be in stock! I asked them to clarify no idea, as in days, weeks or months and they couldn't... will try this link, cheers!

  • Here's my project. handmade wooden bullhorn upcoming when i finish it.
    Colnago Master strada all covered in sky leather and handstitched

  • Fuck it, decided to strip the ol' Kona and make it into a rigid MTB (ignore the handlebar, will have flat bar).

    Shimano Deore front disc, Deore V-brake rear, 10 speed SRAM with Doubletap shifter;

    The new doubletap shifter rock, it felt much better as an MTB shifter than a road one.

  • You can already tell it's been Scobled.

  • +1

  • How can it be if it going to look like this?;

    Plus my mate John's take the malarky with this thing;

    He even have the new doubletap shifter as well;

  • You are contagious.

  • I know, a handful of forumeanger now decided to get touring bicycles over their fixie skidder.

  • That Land Rover mtb is so so horrible.
