Just seen on my street (Clapton):
Black alloy frame (matte) with silver forks (like Kinesis), road bike, SPD pedals, black wheels (looked light).
Looked something like a GIANT but no decals. Was being ridden "like he had stolen it", 99% sure
as the frame was way to big and I've seen the character ridding 100 other different bikes. -

I saw two characters on hire bikes yesterday on the Lea Bridge Road, far away from any hire stations, and for that fact alone somehow had a feeling that they must have been stolen, but obviously no evidence to back up that suspicion.

maybe they went the wrong way down the cycle superhighway

Oh, I dunno.
I saw a bunch of hipsters roll into London Fields on hire bikes, put them down and sit down for what looked like an extended drinking session/picnic. They had supermarket bags and everything.

Yeah there are people who don't really seem to care about those bikes costing you quite a lot if you don't return them pretty quickly.
Anyway if you think it's stolen you might as well write down the numbers on them and check with TfL if you want to be good. :)

Someone visiting our office left a hire bike in reception for an hour because he 'didn't have a lock'. There are two docking stations within 100m, how do people not understand how it works!!!

When was this?! I live really near bow road and me and some mates who live in the same building all had bits stolen from an underground secure garage over night, i lost a frame and two wheels and others lost lots more! Bet it was our stuff! Little C***s!
8th-9th may
not sure it was bow or one of the other stations more west of there, I was knacked had been riding for far too long and wanted to get the district back to central, turned out damn district was down so was stood outside in a tired stuper gorping at a map working out how to get where I wanted to go with no effort.
was middle of the day, 3pm? Didn't spot any wheels with them, but knowing how territorial they get; could be the same people that target that area.
EDIT+++ looking at a map I think I was at mile end stationWalking around other parts of london you see plenty of flats with underground/ multi storey parking on those electric gates, dead easy to open them from the outside with a stick mostly and your in. typically people dont lock up their bikes very well if at all inside.
I know in the north east when a few new build blocks like that sprang up crime went from practically zero to a daily rampage of stolen/damaged cars, fires, bikes and best of all, people climbing from the garage (1st-2nd story) up the outside of the balconies to the upper penthouses (12-15stories) where the footballers occasionally lived (sunderland U) and would empty their flats into the lift, to the carpark, load said footballers car up wiht said loot then calmly drive out the front. Pricelessly amazing.moral of the story, don't leave your balcony door unlocked, even when your on the top floor.

My mate rushed into bank on highbury islington bike by door turned his back for 2 seconds someone grabbed it and run out he gave chase and caught him on the roundabout chinned him, got away caught him again but guy ended up getting away no one helped?
My mate was gonna chase after him but then realised he had left his bag in the bank which caused a security alert!
Least he got his bike back and the thief got a smash!!
Mate you know what the scum bag looked like I live around there, keep my eyes peeled for other potential nicked bikes :-)

Hah yeah I learnt this the hard way - I lost a very nice Cannondale F600 to 'secure' underground parking.
Always makes me chuckle when I see an advert for a flat with 'secure underground parking' as a feature. I reckon they are probably the very worst place to leave anything you want to keep hold of.

+1million
I moved into a new one in the NE. had a doorman and everything. when I moved in I noticed most of the 80 or so parking spaces were empty and were infact, cars & bikes parked outside, only a handful inside. Stupidly I put it down to 'must have lost their buttons'.
Nope, turned out bent clampers operated the place. got clamped to the tune of 155 for an 'improperly' displayed disc. which was always on the windscreen, they took a shot at an angle so that the light was cast across where the permit was.
Stupidly I paid up then went to appeal via so called 'indepdant review' yeah, lost the money. what i should have done was angle grind the clamp off, then park outside where they had no jurisdiction to clamp/ tow. Also many cars were broken into, the block of flats (only a few years old high end jobs) were set alight a number of times from the bins/ lift with cardboard & bins rolled into it then set alight, then set upstairs. All that loverly stuff.
Never live in one again, don't care how 'high end' they are, and where they are located, they just attract scallies like badly locked bikes. -

Joe, I was looking for my nicked bike on Sunday @ Brick Lane, and i oculdn't be certain but I'm fairly sure that was there - was it a charge seat? I asked the guy selling it and he said it wasnlt his (somethign a lot of the people selling bikes there do) so I presumed it was someone elses as it was locked up. Really sorry, I didnt take a photo or anything but if you wanna email me sebastian@fiftyfeettall.com I can describe where it was etc? It didnt go in the time I was there so could be there next week?

Mate from work had his white Fuji Roubaix 2.0 2010 nicked from a parking garage in redhill last night.
think it's pretty much still stock with shimano m520 double sided spd pedals.
he's not hopeful about it's recovery but if anyone see's one for sale it'd be good for him to be able to check it's not his one.

Parked up outside the Vortex jazz club in Dalston tonight to see a gig, somebody took the top off my seatpost & my just-bedding-in-nicely basic honey Brooks B17. No distinguishing marks (other than a few scuffs), but if someone offers you a cheap Brooks in the pub, drop me a line...

Posting this on behalf of a friend...
"Here is my baby.
Robbed between 1am and 6am on Wednesday 26/05 outside my apartment door on the
top floor of my block, 122 Blurton Road, Clapton.I'll give some kind of a reward.
The world as I know it is over.
Thanks for the help."
If anyone sees this, please let me know and I'll pass on the info. It's got a nice brown suede San Marco Rolls saddle that's quite uncommon.
Any help appreciated,
Cheers!

Sounded gutted unsuprisingly.

He locked it up when he went to pick up his dry cleaning or something and by the time he got back they had cut through the lock.
Middle of the day on cavendish square is a fairly busy place. very unlucky
