I feel your pain, just found my new headset race is smaller than the fork headtube setting point, probably by 26.1 to 25.4 would be the standards I'm torn between.
forks are OK no rust or anything so instead might take the inside out of the headset race.
is that what you did? can't imagine flinging forks around on a lathe being much fun

I didn't do it but apparently it was easy, clamped on the steer tube and turned them at a low rpm. skimmed the setting point down just enough, luckily it gave a nice even fit.
