I love him but always think he should have died young.....

Can't agree.
Rock needs proper old and Dylan in all his phases however dodgy has moments of genius
While Mick Jagger shakes his scrawny arse at us to Satisfaction, Dylan gives us this:

how can people be viewing a thread about 'Bob' 'Dylan' when they could be participating in Pistantators House Music thread? the mind boggles.
But, since it's here, I'm going to vote for 'Simple twist of fate' as best Dylan track ever.
in fact, here's a quick top ten, i'll have you understand :
- Simple twist of fate
2.Hurricane - Spirit on the water
- it's alright ma, i'm only bleeding
5.visions of johanna
6.most of the time
7.you're a big girl now
8.bob dylans 115th dream
9.one more cup of coffee
10.it's all over now, baby blue
- Simple twist of fate

I love him but always think he should have died young.....
but then he couldn't have written 'Most of the time' or 'Spirit on the water'
or indeed 'Blood on the tracks' if he'd died properly young.
so, to summarise : no.

Good contribution mighty bluequinn.
No dylan thread would be compete without some critical comments. -

But it's a Dylan appreciation thread.
Anyway, no chance BD is overrated, even if you don't like him you should understand the songwriting genius otherwise you are a musical numbskull.
Overrated would be Eric Clapton or Bruce Springsteen or The Beetles.

Nice list nimhbus good mix of dylan eras.
I'd struggle to make a list. He is so prolific and so many of his songs would need a mention. I'll have a go with albums thoughso in no particular order 10 faves (today):
Oh Mercy
Desire
freewheeling
highway 61
john wesley harding
bootlegs volume 9
time out of mind
blood on the tracks
real live

Bob Dylan has been the soundtrack to my life. He is a mystery, a joker, a poet, a crazy mixed up kid, an old wise man...
This forum needs a thread dedicated to him.
Let's celebrate his 70th Birthday (24th May) by sharing our favourite Dylan sounds.
Here's songs to kick off
