another brutal day ahead in the saddle towards the dolomites.. great ski region, rock formations very different to the alps. Despite this area being part of italy for over 90 years (since 1918 after heavy losses during WW1 on both sides) locals still speak sud-tyrolean, everything is bi-lingual and the cuisine continues to reflect german influences.. why the krauts feel more welcome here than in austria.. delicious kaiserschmarrn beckons after a long ride..
