TBH I just found it interesting that my speed dropped so much purely because I was carrying a few more Kg's. Mainly interesting, as I feel this was the only variable (well, to a point).
When I wanted to keep my weight down when running. I'd have a bowl of all-bran as a recovery meal, after an evening run. Kept me off the snack food.
