1.Restart your laptop, don’t connect to wireless
2.Connect your laptop to your router using Ethernet cable*
3.Open Terminal and run : 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade'
4.System → Administration → Hardware drivers and see if you can enable restricted drivers for your wireless (and/or any other devices)
5.This will probably require restart, so go ahead and reboot and try connecting to Wi-Fi again.
*If you cant get Ethernet cable, try playing with your Wi-Fi settings. Reducing strengths of your key, changing from WPA to WEP, disabling password. Make sure you change this back when you are done. Or post your laptop model and I can try to find you a Wi-Fi card driver and post it here.
Oh, and as soon as you have all this sorted, REMOVE UNITY and install Gnome-shell :
