+1 - worth and value are not necessarily inter-changeable -

Or would you say my Gazelle frame suddenly loses £140 of value or gains £150 every time a weird sale happens?
No -- your Gazelle frame does not suddenly lose or gain everytime a trade occurs (except in notional terms) - it will only show a gain or loss to you when you actually sell it

I sympathise with the OP on apres auction anxiety, since I suffer from the same....I don't think I've ever bought any large value item and not had either mild - "Oh, that was a mistake" -- to the full blown, hand-wringing "My GOD! what have I done!!!"
And on the traders profit or loss - yes indeed a value is given at the end of the day...but its not real in the sense that the profit or loss is not realised until the commodity or share is actually sold.
As for the bike in question...I like its current paint job

for what it's worth, that gw is a million times nicer than a boring old fuji track
(not that there's anything wrong with a fuji track - i just know what i'd rather own)
IMO you got a nice little bike at a reasonable price -

bought, you fucking *b*o*ught* it. how old are you and are you in a position where you could be a risk to members of the public?

Wow there!
You need to chill out, has my poor spelling really raged you up so much that you need to get all up in my face?
If i had met you and said something incorrectly to your face would you do the same thing? I think not but on those keys of fury your quite the grammar super hero. -

A joke is supposed to be funny.

if it hasn't been pointed out already, and you do decide to look for 'period parts' - the frame looks to have been made in the 90s/2000s rather than the 80s, judging by the tubing sticker

Hi, a friend has just bought an Eddy Merckx Falcon Giro d'Italia bike off ebay for £120, is the bike worth it?
Thanks. -

I'll laugh, he'll moan...but mainly I'll laugh. Not sure if it is, there seems to be mixed reviews....

children always ride bicycles of this calibre into immovable objects.
-
• #222
as always it depends on what its made of/ components etc. The Merckx has made both extremes, brilliant and sh*te :-)

told this story on here before, but its worth another airing
i bought a brand spanking new eddy merckx falcon in the late 70's,a few days later i parked it
against a sign post on the corner of portslade and wandsworth road at the uncle toms cabin tea stall and whilst get my tea and dog roll.......a dawsons lorry cut the corner and crushed it into the pavement -
• #224
Let hope it doesn't happen to the Roberts on the corner of portslade and wandsworth road at the uncle toms cabin tea stall.

i was young and stupid then ed,now im just old and stupid...but i watch where i park up
A bike, like any other commodity, is worth what the buyer is prepared to pay and what the seller is prepared to accept at a given time. It was worth 250 when you got it....what its worth now is up to you and any potential buyer!
