Forum Tandem Ride - dates, everything tbc

There's been rumblings on the tandem threads recently with talks of Dunwich etc, so clearly what is needed is a summer tandem ride.
Please note, this ride is open to everyone regardless of bike. Come along, get drunk and have a go. It's ace.

There's a few of us on here with tandems, long rides are a breeze on a bicycle made for two, it was great fun being able to keep up with some really fast guys on the Southend ride last year, also provides good drafting opportunities for others.

Def want the rowdy red tandem team from the tweed run to come(I have no idea who they are)

So, day ride? 70miles ish? Start at 8am from brick lane courts? Ride there and back to avoid trying to take numerous tandems on trains?

Any ideas for dates? Late june/july perhaps? Routes? Pubs etc that are famous for tandeming? Hills are fine on tandems if anyones feeling fit(I'm way out of shape at the moment).

Seeing as I started the thread I should probably smooth all these details out. Hmm..

Have just been to RP on mine - managed a whole lap...(tbf 6yr old stoker was in a mood and didn't want to help with the pedaling).

I have a weird schedule which means I can only get out every other weekend so would be good if this ride could be scheduled to fit in with my schedule.

Not that I'm selfish or anything.

I have a tandem, purchased on Ebay about 6 weeks ago, but so far haven't had time to give it much more excercise than a lap of Richmond Park. The plan is to do Dunwich on it, so this would be a great warm up!

Possibly in for that date, but will have to bring the 6yr old stoker. And he ain't got many miles in his little legs.

We'll keep it to a socially-paced, 30-40miles tops with a couple of stops I reckon.
Hopefully we won't venture too far from civilization in case you guys need to bail for a train station.

Really enjoyed Fresh's Vintage jersey ride route. About 30miles iirc, only a couple of hills, nowt too challenging, nuff pubs.

I will be supporting a forumenger who for some reason is riding against the clock for 24 hours to see how far he can go.... so we are out.
